Husky’s Side Chapter 69

Life-Saving Days by the Husky’s Side
Let me take you home

In Ji Tianyang’s memory, he has never seen Ji Shaoyan in this state.

Although he knew that Ji Shaoyan was the son of destiny when he crossed over, he could only tell from the original owner’s memory he was a deep schemer and very good at pretending to be a noble young master. This was the first time he saw Ji Shaoyan like this.

He was scared to death. “Wh-wha-what else d-did I leave out?”

Ji Shaoyan coldly stared him down.

This actor sure is dedicated, not even letting his ‘stupid little brother’ personality collapse at this point. He told the driver to go to the hospital and raised the soundproof board.

The driver was once ‘fortunate’ enough to have seen his family’s eldest master enter such a mode. This felt more terrifying than the last time. He did not dare to give a single glance to the back seats, obediently driving to the hospital.

Ji Shaoyan did not let go of Ji Tianyang’s head. He sat down and fixed his eyes on him with a smile, softly saying, “Why don’t you tell me?”

Ji Tianyang had the itch to kill this guy, but was afraid that he would throw the jade in a fit of rage without any notice, so he hastily raised a three finger salute. “I swear that everything I said is the truth, and I have said everything that needed to be said!”

Ji Shaoyan’s smile deepened.  “Then why is he unconscious?”

Ji Tianyang paused. “He’s unconscious?”

He immediately reacted, his heart beating wildly, and asked, “Last time he touched the jade, did he also fall unconscious bei?”

Ji Shaoyan stared at him without speaking.

Ji Tianyang guessed he was pretty close to the truth and his heart jumped faster. He outwardly breathed a sigh of relief. “He’ll be unconscious for three days, nothing’s wrong ah.

Ji Shaoyan: “I didn’t see how nothing’s wrong.”

Ji Tianyang: “For people who transmigrated through Zhonglian, once they touch another jade pendant for the first time in the new world, they will fall into a three day coma, unless they’re bound, like me. I thought he had already been through this once so touching a second one would be fine, that’s why I didn’t mention it. Besides, you guys didn’t ask ah!

He acted as if he was wronged, and said, “You can relax, it’s just sleeping for three days, nothing’s wrong with him. If he doesn’t wake up after three days, you can throw that jade into the sea in front of me and I will have no complaints.”

Ji Shaoyan continued to stare at him.

Ji Tianyang faced him with a sincere and serious expression. Ji Shaoyan slowly released him and leaned back in his seat.

Zhou Li was sent to the same hospital as last time.

It was the same experience as before. The Zhou family heard the doctor say that all data were reading normal and their faces became stiff.

The doctor’s face underwent a similar effect.

He also knew that these comas were not normal, but ‘nothing wrong’ meant ‘nothing wrong’. What else can he do ah?

Ji Shaoyan arrived at this time.

He glanced at the person on the bed and pulled out a chair to sit down, gently assuring, “I will guard him. You all can return to your work ba.”

Father Zhou deeply worried.

After the last time, he found some specialists to look over Zhou Li.

The specialist said that for people with multiple personality disorders, sometimes a certain personality will appear for a long time, sometimes they will switch personalities frequently, and in more likely circumstances, the patient’s personalities will integrate themselves, coming out as a normal person in the end, therefore the specialists also couldn’t say what his situation was like.

They haven’t seen Qian Liye despite the long wait, so they believed Zhou Li may have assimilated his other personality into his own during his first coma, but now he had fallen unconscious again. This time, when he wakes up again, will he be Zhou Li, or will it be another personality?

Father Zhou and Zhou Lubo still had a meeting to attend. They stayed for another 20 minutes and, seeing that Zhou Li still showed no signs of awakening, they went back to the company. Madam Zhou and Zhou Luwen stayed to guard Zhou Li as usual. Seeing that Ji Tianyang was also there, they let him attend his classes first.

Ji Tianyang peeked at a certain someone, waiting for his order.

Ji Shaoyan clutched a piece of jade. He was not afraid of the other party playing tricks, and said, “Go to school ba. You won’t be of help here anyway.”

Ji Tianyang obediently voiced “oh“, looked at Zhou Li lying on the bed, and maintained his character settings as he comforted, “Dage, don’t worry, the doctor said nothing is wrong.”

Ji Shaoyan answered with a light “en” and held Zhou Li’s hand.

Very quickly, news that Ji-shao, Zhou Li, and Zhou Luwen didn’t come to class around the school, and all types of rumours went around.

The number one guess was that the two might have gotten engaged, causing all the fans to enter a mourning period. The second generations didn’t think this was the case. For such a big announcement such as an engagement, they would’ve received the news in advance. Even if the two families were in the negotiation stage, there is no need for the discussions to take place during school time ah.

After a little digging, they found out that something happened to Zhou Li.

Because Zheng San and Tang Zixin’s messages to Zhou Li never got a reply, which was the equivalent of losing all hope, and among the three absentees, only Ji-shao and Zhou Luwen came out to respond with a few words, this meant the one keeping silent must have a problem.

Knowing that they were all smart people, Ji Shaoyan no longer concealed it, telling them that Zhou Li fell ill and was hospitalised, needing to stay for a few days.

With one look at this message, the second generations were unable to sit still.

Although Zhou Li often left them speechless, he was a good person through and through. How could they not visit if your brother was sick?

So they took the time to make a trip to the hospital at noon and found a sleeping Zhou Li. Seeing that he didn’t seem to be in any serious trouble, they quietly chatted with Ji Shaoyan and left with peace of mind.

But even after a whole day passed, Zhou Li hadn’t bubbled in the group. The next day arrived, yet he still didn’t come.

They visited again during this period. Seeing that Zhou Li was still sleeping, they didn’t dare to bother them any more and accurately read the mood in the ward, saying goodbye and leaving. This continued until Liu Xiaowei hesitatingly spoke up, “He still hasn’t sent anything in the chat, but he doesn’t act like this, and he is asleep every time we visit. Say…is it really that coincidental?”

The others looked at him silently, realising the amount of information this sentence held. They were all shocked.

However, before their thoughts headed in a depressing direction, Zhou Li woke up.

He had the same experience as last time, feeling like he only slept for a short while.

The difference was that when he saw that human-sized jade petal this time, he knew he was in a coma. Unfortunately he couldn’t wake himself up, so he could only idle away——he was unconscious for three days, no more, no less.

Seeing him finally wake up, Ji Shaoyan’s heart that was hanging by a single string finally settled. He pulled Zhou Li into his arms, embracing him.

Zhou Li hugged him back. “I’m sorry. I worried you all again.”

Ji Shaoyan didn’t speak, only tightening his grip.

Madam Zhou and Zhou Luwen originally wanted to come over to see Zhou Li as well, but seeing how Ji Shaoyan still wasn’t willing to let go even after a long while, they decided not to bother them and went to the doctor first. Ji Shaoyan waited for the others to leave before finally loosening his arms a little. He pinched Zhou Li’s chin and kissed him. “How do you feel?”

Zhou Li said, “Nothing’s wrong, I feel fine.”

Ji Shaoyan: “Uncomfortable anywhere?”

Zhou Li: “No. Did you ask that actor?”

Ji Shaoyan: “I have.”

He repeated Ji Tianyang’s explanation again and commented, “I don’t know whether he’s lying or not.”

Zhou Li hummed “en”, but before he could say anything else, the doctors and nurses rushed in.

They checked him over carefully and found that there was still no problem. Seeing that the patient was about to be discharged from the hospital, they turned their heads and left without a word, beginning to wonder whether they failed in their studies, because every time, this patient woke up by himself.

Zhou Li was unaware that he had caused the medical staff into doubting their lives’ work.

After washing up, he ate something and followed Madam Zhou and the others home, showing his presence in the group chat along the way.

Zheng San and the others’ brain holes were in the middle of growing bigger as they speculated what happened to him. Upon seeing his message, they were taken aback once again and rushed to ask him what happened.

Zhou Li smiled and typed: Nothing, just slept like the dead.

Like hell you just slept like the dead.

Everyone immediately lined up to send out an array of ellipsis, and when they saw this thing announce he will be coming to school the next day, they urged him to stay home to rest.

Zhou Li: Relax, even if I run two laps of the sports field, I’ll still be fine.

He talked some nonsense with them for a bit and accompanied the Zhou family for lunch, then he dragged Ji Shaoyan into his room and laid on the bed, watching him.

Ji Shaoyan: “What is it?”

Zhou Li: “Just looking at you.”

Ji Shaoyan smiled, holding him and swaying sweet nothings for a while, then rubbed his head and asked, “Sleepy? Want to take a nap?”

Zhou Li: “I’m not sleepy.”

Ji Shaoyan: “Are you really okay?”

Zhou Li: “I am ah.”

Ji Shaoyan softly kissed him, then slid his hand downwards, whispering, “If you’re not sleepy, then…shall we do something else?”

His voice hooked him in, bewitching and gentle as always.

Zhou Li agreed without a second thought, climbing out of bed and digging out the necessities.

Ji Shaoyan was in a state of unease for three days. Right now, all he wanted was to be intimate with Zhou Li.

But at the very most, he just wanted to use their hands. He didn’t expect for Silly Fool to run to home base. He looked at the two items in Zhou Li’s hand and asked, “When did you buy these?”

Zhou Li said, “Bought it a while ago, I thought it might be useful someday. See, wasn’t I right?”

Ji Shaoyan was convinced and pulled him into the bed.

Under blue sky and white sun, they keeped a tight rein on the sounds they made and rolled in the bedroom without shame all afternoon.

In the evening, Zhou Li only ate a few bites of dinner, then went upstairs to sleep. The observant Zhou family were worried, feeling that he was much more tired than last time. They thought that he shouldn’t have been discharged from the hospital so early, and that it would’ve been best if he stayed for a few more days.

Zhou Li was ignorant to everything. After a night’s sleep, he was ready to go to school, refreshed and energised.

Ji Tianyang was afraid that Ji Shaoyan would murder him out of anger and didn’t dare to step foot in the hospital during the three days.

Only after seeing that Zhou Li had successfully awakened did he slowly move back into their sights. After a month of careful movements, he finally couldn’t help asking about touching the jade pendant.

Ji Shaoyan and Zhou Li discussed a feasible plan, then set a meeting date with Ji Tianyang.

Ji Tianyang naturally didn’t dare to have any other opinions, and spent this time attending school and slowly waiting things out. Before he knew it, they arrived at the day before the appointed meeting.

That day was Friday.

Zhou Li went home and put his schoolbag away. After eating, he went to walk the dog as usual. He walked along the road of the neighbourhood with no rush, waiting to join up with Ji Shaoyan so they could take a walk together.

It was at this moment that he heard the sound of a car coming from behind him, with an audibly fast speed. The car stopped beside him, tyres screeching.

Zhou Li was taken unaware. He noticed that it was a multi-purpose vehicle packed with many people, and immediately after the door slid open, two men sprang out from the inside and a third man came out holding a baseball bat. He couldn’t be more familiar. It was Master Lin.

Without a word, Lin Ye directly swung the bat down on the golden retriever’s head and knocked it out cold, then dragged and threw it into the grass beside them. At the same time, the other two men worked together to capture Zhou Li, who was just starting to run, then hauled him into the car before speeding away.

The whole process took them less than three minutes. It was a very simple and rough operation.

At the moment, the sky still hasn’t darkened, and this community wasn’t an area accessible to any random person. If they could enter, there must’ve been a residence that left a word with the security guard. Zhou Li nearly immediately guessed it was Ji Tianyang.

On the day before he gets to touch the jade, Ji Tianyang obviously wanted to directly shed all pretense of cordiality.

He can’t stand on their opposing side, and he should know what it meant to cut off their ties. This meant he no longer wanted to feign civility… Before Zhou Li’s thoughts came to an end, a medicine-soaked cloth covered his nose and mouth, and he gradually lost consciousness.

The neighbourhood settled into its usual quiet again. Ji Shaoyan walked to Zhou Li and his normal meeting place. He searched around but couldn’t see the person he was looking for, so he called Zhou Li. But no one answered.

He was about to call again, but Zhou Li sent a message first, telling him to wait there for a bit as something came up on his end.

He raised his eyebrow slightly, unsure what could prevent Zhou Li from answering the phone but still giving him enough time to send a text. He was just about to call Zhou Li so the other can explain clearly, but then he suddenly heard the golden retriever’s howling.

The golden retriever didn’t faint completely.

Soon after Lin Ye and the others left, it struggled to crawl out of the grass with a head covered in blood. It’s just that its body and injury was too heavy for it to run, so it could only sway forwards on its paws while wailing.

Ji Shaoyan suddenly found it and quickly ran forward, replying to the text while rushing over: Okay, I’m waiting for you.

Lin Ye and the others were immediately relieved at this answer.

“Okay, we held him back.”

“Why do you rich people use stuff like fingerprint passwords? Look, you can unlock it with a single touch.”

“How long can we block him?”

Ji Tianyang sitting in the back seats replied, “Not too long.”

He let out a cheerful laugh. “It doesn’t matter, this is enough time. Switch cars in a bit and send another message, tell him to meet at the small lake, then throw the phone away.”

The men in the car listened to him, all giving a single “en”.

After Ji Shaoyan sent the text, he came across a second generation in their circle.

The kid was about to drive out and about for a while. He saw a golden retriever with a head drenched in blood wobbling beside him and recognised that it was Zhou-shao’s dog, and hurriedly ran over. “What happened?”

Ji Shaoyan happened to be looking for someone to help. Seeing someone arrive, he said, “Bring it into the car and take me to security.”

The second generation was more than happy to open the door.

There weren’t many opportunities to help Ji-shao. In an instant, he decided to forfeit his free time. He dragged Ji-shao straight to the security room and brought out the surveillance footage to see what happened just then. Before the kidnappers left, one of the men even raised a middle finger to the camera; it was beyond arrogant.

The second generation sucked in a breath. “Fuck, who are they?”

Ji Shaoyan and Zhou Li came to the same conclusion; only Ji Tianyang could’ve done this.

He watched the car leave the neighbourhood and knew if he wanted to find their destination, he would have to go to the traffic police. He ignored the security guard’s explanation and looked at the kid, “Under no circumstances are you to speak of this matter outside.”

The kid had an itching that his expression carried an edge of panic during this whole time. “I know.”

Ji Shaoyan: “Please do me a favour, help me take the golden retriever to the veterinary hospital.”

“Okay.” The kid paused, and couldn’t help saying, “They can’t have gone too far. If we call the police now, I’m sure they can stop the car ba?”

Ji Shaoyan: “I know, I will deal with it.”

According to Ji Tianyang’s tactics, since he dared to pull something like this, he will be perfectly prepared. By now, that guy had probably already switched cars.

But even so, he still called a friend from the city bureau and asked him to help find the vehicle, then he made a call to Liang Jingxiu and straightforwardly left one word: “Help.”

Liang Jingxiu knew that something was wrong the moment he heard his tone and this concise statement. He replied, “Tell me.”

Ji Shaoyan: “Come find me now, and also bring along the people I left with you.”

Liang Jingxiu was taken aback. “What happened?”

Ji Shaoyan: “Just come here as soon as possible.”

He promptly hung up and made a third call.

In any case, he also didn’t want to be entangled with that actor. How timely…this time, he can resolve everything in one move.

After making these arrangements, he sent a message to Zhou Li: Not here yet?

It took three minutes for the other end to reply: Come over to the little lake, I have a surprise for you.

Ji Shaoyan lips hooked upwards, but there was no smile in his eyes. He typed: Want to propose?

The other side: You’ll know when you arrive [kiss]

Ji Shaoyan: Okay.

He calculated the time it would take to get from his previous location to the small lake, and on the dot, he sent another message. This time, no one replied, and when he called them, no one answered.

So then he called Ji Tianyang’s phone and found that no one was answering on that end either. It wasn’t until another half an hour later that the other side requested a video call.

Ji Shaoyan connected and his screen displayed Ji Tianyang’s face.

Seeing him sitting in a car, Ji Tianyang smiled and said, “Are you going to the police or checking surveillance? Don’t be in a hurry so quickly, let me show you something good.”

He flipped the camera around, focusing on the single bed set to the side, as well as Zhou Li lying on top of it. His shirt has already been ripped off, and in front of him stood Lin Ye and several others.

He smiled and said, “Don’t you already know how much Master Lin likes him ba? This is such an opportune time”

Ji Shaoyan’s expression instantly sank.

Ji Tianyang said, “You know what I want. I will send you an address. You bring the goods over. If you come one minute early, your baby will suffer one minute less. But it’s okay if you come late too. See those cameras around? I’ve already set them up and I promise I will help you record all the details to the very end.”

Seeing the smile on Ji Shaoyan’s face disappear completely, he continued with great joy, “Dage, I have to run, so I will only wait half an hour for your arrival. If you don’t come within this time, I can only leave you a corpse. Anyway, if he dies, I can live well once I escape abroad, what do you think?”

Ji Shaoyan knew he was referring to Zhonglian’s luck bonus, but he didn’t reply.

Ji Tianyang smiled again. “I’m waiting for you.”

The other side hung up and the car fell into silence.

Liang Jingxiu and Yan Yunhui came together. The former had other things to do so only Yan Yunhui remained with Ji Shaoyan. He already knew the situation and almost felt this scenario was comical.

Abducting people from the streets, recording videos, sending addresses… These series of operations can honestly be called otherworldly*. There were loopholes everywhere; there was evidence everywhere. There was nowhere Ji Tianyang could run, yet he still wants to escape abroad?

[T/N: 天秀: like extremely excellent (along the lines of that). Developed from e-sport’s “666” praise]

He felt Ji Tianyang was insane. “What is he trying to pull?”

Ji Shaoyan was expressionless. “He doesn’t want to live anymore.”

Yan Yunhui has never seen him without a smile, but this time, his face was absolutely chilling.

He knew that this time, A-Yan was apoplectic, and was afraid he would go on to murder Ji Tianyang, so he couldn’t help but coax him with a few words lest A-Yan gets dragged down with Ji Tianyang’s low IQ and they go mad together. Take one wrong step, and you will lose half your lifetime*.

[T/N: 搭上半辈子的人生: not sure how to translate]

Ji Shaoyan didn’t say another word. He only said that because he was stating a fact.

Ji Tianyang wasn’t a fool. For him to come to this was equivalent to saying he no longer wanted this life and wanted to get his hands on the jade pendant to commit suicide right after. But why did he want this?

He was an old monster who has lived for so long. Even when they are about to toss the jade away, he still wants to deceive people. It’s reasonable to say that he will not turn this crazy so suddenly unless there is a necessary reason.

He subconsciously remembered Zhou Li’s latest coma and tightly gripped his phone.

Right now, Zhou Li was already awake.

He was taken to an abandoned warehouse. Some daily necessities were scattered around them, and it looked like this was the place where Lin Ye and the others settled. After his shirt was torn off, he understood what they were planning to do. He glanced at the gloomy-faced Lin Ye with visible surprise.

Lin Ye didn’t expect him to react this way. He let out a laugh and pinched the boy’s chin. “Not afraid of me?”

Zhou Li frowned when he was pinched, and said, “This is the second time.”

Lin Ye: “En?

Zhou Li: “He pulled you guys into the water*. This is the second time.”

[T/N: pull others into the same bad predicament as you]

Once Ji Tianyang hung up the call, he happened to hear this sentence. He said, “Stuff his mouth so no one can hear us.”

Zhou Li didn’t wait for Lin Ye and the others to act and quickly let words pour out. “Do you really think A-Yan holds no grievances and no grudges towards you guys? You think last time he only dealt with you all with the excess energy he had after finishing off with some other business? Was it not enough to be pitted by Ji Tianyang once? You guys want to be pitted a second time? Do you really think he’ll take you to flee the country? Dream on ba, you won’t know you’re dead even after you die!”

Lin Ye and the others paused.

Indeed, they have never been able to figure out just why Ji Shaoyan chose to tidy them up.

Ji Tianyang sneered, “Don’t listen to him, I just showed my face in the video to my brother. This is already ironclad evidence. If I don’t run, why would I wait around to be caught?”

Zhou Li said, “Because you have no fear* ah.”

[T/N: 有恃无恐: confident because you know you have backing]

He turned to Lin Ye and his men. “If you want to know if he cheated you all, search him. You will find a jade pendant. Take that jade and hide it from him. Just watch his reaction and you will get your answer. “

Ji Tianyang suddenly narrowed his eyes.

Zhou Li: “You guys take the jade; it definitely won’t take more than five minutes. It’s just five minutes, A-Yan and the others won’t make it in such a short time. After that, you have time to toss me around, it’s not like I can do anything when I’m tied up anyway.”

He looked into Lin Ye’s eyes. “Master Lin, whether you want to take revenge for your brothers this time, or if you have to cooperate with Ji Tianyang to save your lives, you are still highly respected figures in your circles. If you can’t figure out how you want to die, you’ll only be putting on a miserable show.”

Lin Ye secretly thought so too.

Truth to be told, he wasn’t all that in the mood to run errands. He mostly wanted to take revenge on Ji Shaoyan. Hearing this, he felt that he could afford the five-minute delay, so he took his brothers and made his way towards Ji Tianyang.

Ji Tianyang spoke in a low voice, “Provoking me, do you still want to escape the country successfully?”

The men hesitated slightly.

Zhou Li smiled and said, “That jade is very special, it can help you escape the police. Otherwise, why do you think a rich second generation kid with no backing was willing to help you commit crimes? If you can get your hands on it, there is no need to ever look at his face ever again.”

Lin Ye and the others looked at Ji Tianyang’s momentary sombre expression, then surrounded him.

Zhou Li was tightly tied to the bed and couldn’t move, so he turned his head to appreciate the dog-biting-dog scene, watching them while thinking about how to get out. While doing so, he heard an abrupt scream. A man suddenly fell to the floor.

Following this was a barrage of even more screaming. Not even two minutes had passed, but Lin Ye and the others were all put down*. His pupils instantly shrank.

[T/N: not necessarily to death]

Ji Tianyang flicked the blood off his fighting knife* and walked towards Zhou Li with a smile. “I originally wanted them to leave something unpleasant for Ji Shaoyan to find. Forget it, since they can’t be used, I might as well kill them all.”

[T/N: 军刺: It’s more of a thin fighting knife I think? Don’t know the specific name though]

Zhou Li: “……”

Ji Tianyang finally tore off the disguise he’s kept up all this time entirely, revealing what had to be his true innate personality.

With full hostility, he squatted beside Zhou Li with a grin on his face while playing with the fighting knife. “But it doesn’t matter. His mother was killed by the kidnappers. When he arrives, I will capture him and tie him to a chair; let him watch as you’re killed in front of him. It can be considered his parting gift.”

Zhou Li silently stared at him.

“Nothing you want to ask? Don’t you want to know why I suddenly did all this?” Ji Tianyang slashed at his shirt that had been thrown aside earlier, and smiled. “That’s because of you ah. Zhonglian has a core jade, and the person who transmigrates through the core jade is guaranteed to return to the world where the core jade is located in their second transmigration. If someone else crosses over with them, the two will go back together, but there is only this one chance. Afterwards, you will only transmigrate randomly.”

He looked at Zhou Li. “As luck would have it, my jade is right next to the core jade. Once it is bonded to the core jade, the core jade will become a safeguard. Every jade pendant I find in a new world will follow me into the next, and this means I will soon gather all of them.”

He tied the cloth strips around Zhou Li’s head and over his eyes, saying, “Of course, with advantages comes disadvantages. For people who transmigrate through the core jade, once they touch a new jade, they will fall unconscious for three days.”

Zhou Li breathing tightened.

Ji Tianyang said, “See, the first time I met another transmigrator, they came into the world through the core jade. Even God wants to help me assemble Zhonglian. When I get hold of that jade, I will hold your hand and die with you. Two jades are enough to send the two of us back to your world.”

He forced Zhou Li’s mouth open and stuffed another piece of cloth in, so as to prevent the two from pulling any small tricks when Ji Shaoyan arrived.

He admired his masterpiece, then touched Zhou Li’s face with his bloody hand. He lowered his head, lips just over Zhou Li’s ear, and whispered, “How about I take you home?”

The author has something to say:

  1. This fake Ji Tianyang is a different breed of lunatic… kind of chuuni and doesn’t think of what will do him good for longer term in this life. Well, he lived several times over already . *files nails while waiting how he’ll get cleaned up by A Yan*

    Thanks for the updates! 💕
