TSIFB Chapter 10

穿成校草被迫营业 / Transmigrated into a School Idol and Forced to Do Business
You have quite some confidence in our son.

Yu Baizhou’s mind was racing. Since He Yan was willing to accept the bread, this meant that his approach worked. If sending bread was able to increase his favourability value, then until He Yan gets sick of eating, it should be fine to continue gifting the bread.

Ze ze*. Yu Baizhou sighed, it really was the exact same routine as playing a strategy game.

[T/N: sound of clicking one’s tongue]

Although he had this idea in mind, Yu Baizhou had no time himself, so he could only ask his housekeeper auntie to prepare a strawberry cream bread for him every day so he could give it to He Yan at school.

Fu Xia teased him a few times, commenting about how difficult it was to keep a girlfriend. Not only did he have to do it himself, but he also went through the effort of bringing a carton of milk along with the bread everyday.

Yu Baizhou said in his heart that the milk was for himself to drink.

But, every single time, Yu Baizhou couldn’t explain his thoughts, and because he was thin-skinned, he always managed to leave his house with a red face.

Yu Chen was away on a business trip, so when Fu Xia told him about this interesting development on the phone, Yu Chen immediately began to attack. “Send me the girl’s address and information! I want to see what kind of girl fascinated him into stupidity! His grades have already tipped over the edge, but he still dares to pursue a relationship? Is he already satisfied with what he has and is now looking for death?”

Fu Xia brought the phone away from his ears, and conversed casually while drinking coffee, “Since Xiao-Zhou has said that he will work hard in his studies, can’t you work hard in trusting him this time? Besides, even though I don’t know who the other person is, what if the girl is very studious? If he gets along well with that kind of girl and piques his interest in learning, then I don’t want to interfere.”

Yu Chen was angry. “And what if it turns out to be a scum?”

Fu Xia: “Then let our son take her along to make progress together.”

Yu Chen: “……” You have quite some confidence in our son.

In the morning, Yu Baizhou arrived at school and, as always, put the bread into his ‘girlfriend’s desk.

After sliding the bread in place, he took out the box of milk to drink, but accidentally spilt some of it while he was halfway through.

He walked to the bathroom to wash up, but before he was able to enter, heard someone whispering about him.

Accompanying the sound of flowing water was a very familiar voice.

“Do you think our boss has become rather strange recently?”

It was Tu Gaoming’s voice.

Yu Baizhou leaned closer to the half-opened door and carefully eavesdropped on the conversation inside.

“Yeah.”

The one who spoke this time was Che Cong.

“Right? You’ve noticed as well! Ze, I thought it was only me who thought that the boss was different from before.” Tu Gaoming said, “How do I say this, I feel as if the boss’ personality is completely different from before. Sometimes it looks like…he is a completely different person.”

Hearing Tu Gaoming’s speech, Yu Baizhou at the door couldn’t help but feel surprised. Although he never thought about deliberately hiding his identity, especially after he found out about the plot, to be talked about like this unexpectedly frightened him. He continued to listen in on the conversation between the two.

After Tu Gaoming finished his remarks, he added with a smile, “But, I think the boss now is pretty cute.”

Yu Baizhou: “……”

Che Cong: “……”

Che Cong gave Tu Gaoming a contemptuous look, then thought of something and paused. He said, “I think I know why our boss suddenly became like this.”

Yu Baizhou at the door was shocked. “!!!”

He was exposed?!

Tu Gaoming was even more surprised than him. “You know why?!”

Che Cong lowered his voice into a whisper, checked to see if there was anyone around, before saying, “Last holiday, when our boss and Li-ge were abroad, there was an accident.”

Hearing this, Yu Baizhou at the door breathed out a sigh of relief. He had thought Che Cong realised he was not the original owner.

Tu Gaoming opened his eyes wide in disbelief. “Accident? There was an accident?”

Che Cong hesitated, then began to bring things to light. “…The boss got in a car accident.”

When Che Cong spoke up to this part, Yu Baizhou suddenly remembered the plot.

There is indeed such a thing.

Last holiday, the original owner and Li Bei went on vacation abroad, but he had accidentally been involved in a car accident and was sent to the hospital.

The incident occurred during the third day of the vacation. The original owner and Li Bei had originally agreed to drive together to go sightseeing, but because something came up in his family, Li Bei had to immediately return home, and the original host’s temper flared up as soon as he heard the news. Although the problem that arose did not necessarily require Li Bei to go back, because his sense of responsibility was too strong, and because his father had requested for him to return, he patiently discussed the situation with the original owner. As a result, since the original owner’s temper was truly too difficult to work with, Li Bei had quickly run out of his patience. The two quarreled, and the day after, Li Bei left while the original host stayed.

However, while Li Bei waited for his flight in the airport, he received news that the original owner had been in a car accident and was taken to the hospital. In the end, he rushed to reach the hospital, and since he failed to return home, Li Bei stayed overseas to take care of the original owner.

At that time, the event had shaken up the households of both boys. Fu Xia and Yu Chen hurried to the original owner on the same day, and even Li Bei’s parents came. However, not long after, they received the good news that the original owner had only suffered physically. There was just skin trauma, nothing too serious. The main wounds were bumps he took to his head, which left him in a comatose state for several days.

Thinking up to this part, Yu Baizhou brought a hand up to his head——no wonder he had felt that his memory was not as good as before, turned out it was all because his head had been knocked about in a car accident!

Later on, after the incident, Li Bei had blamed himself for a long time. He had always thought about how, if he didn’t get into an argument with the original owner at that time, then the other wouldn’t have participated in the accident. So, he began to treat the original owner better than before, regardless of what he had to pay.

After studying the plot, Yu Baizhou discovered that the reason why Li Bei acted so good to him during this point of time was because of this.

The two on the other side of the door continued.

After Tu Gaoming learned about the entire affair, his hands that were still under the flowing water stopped moving. He stared at Che Cong with a pale face. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”

Che Cong sighed and said, “For our boss, that car accident would have left behind a mental scar. I didn’t want to bring it up before him, so it was better off for you to not know.”

Tu Gaoming grabbed Che Cong’s collar. “What do you mean it’d be better off if I never knew? Do you think you’re the only one who cares about our boss?!”

Che Cong said helplessly, “I only happened to come across the boss and Li-ge chatting about this inadvertently. The boss never mentioned this before me, nor was he willing to mention it at all, so how could I have told you?”

As the two were arguing, the bathroom door was suddenly pushed open. The two boys looked over and happened to find Yu Baizhou maintaining an awkward posture, his hands raised as if he was lying on the door.

The three startled people: “!!!”

At this moment, the male teacher who opened the door bypassed Yu Baizhou and walked into the bathroom, but not before quietly muttering under his breath, “What kind of a quirk…”

Yu Baizhou: “……”

The bathroom was never a good place to talk, so Yu Baizhou took Tu Gaoming and Che Cong somewhere else. The two squatted on the ground while he clasped his hands and walked back and forth in front of them. After a while, he stopped his pace. “So, you guys think that the reason why I act differently compared to the past is because of the car accident?”

The two turned up their heads, then nodded simultaneously.

“Actually…” Yu Baizhou thought for a while, shifting his expression to add a few more points of sadness. “It is as you say.”

Hearing this, both people’s faces changed colours.

Yu Baizhou was originally worried that the collapse of his character design would make other people feel strange about him, but this was completely fine, since he had finally found a suitable excuse!!

He pulled out the kind of vigor he used whenever he gave a speech in his past life and to the two people, presented a long lecture about his psychological changes after the car accident, along with blaming the accident as the event that ‘baptized’ him. It gave him the vision he needed to discover the love around him, it gave him the chance to discover many new meanings in life, it gave him the opportunity to change all of his bad habits…

He can persistently spout nonsense, and the two will persistently eat it all up.

Listening until the end, Tu Gaoming even had red eyes. Che Cong still held onto some reason, but he really wasn’t faring much better.

Yu Baizhou did not expect things to go so smoothly, and couldn’t help but feel overwhelmingly relieved——this was great! In the future, he could destroy his character design to his heart’s desire!

He comforted the two for a while, then took them back to the classroom.

When He Yan arrived at school, he predictably found a strawberry cream bread sitting in his desk. He stared at the gift, feeling a little helpless.

The voice of one of his classmates came from the door. “He Yan, Teacher Cheng wants you to go to the office.”

He Yan gave an answer of confirmation, getting up from his table and headed to the back door. After only a few steps, he heard Yu Baizhou’s voice from outside the door, and soon saw Yu Baizhou turning the corner to enter the classroom, followed by Tu Gaoming and Che Cong.

Seeing Yu Baizhou, He Yan thought of the continuous supply of bread every day, and couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on.

He had no time to play games with children.

Anyway, it could never work out, so it was better to make things clear to Yu Baizhou.

The distance between the two was becoming smaller and smaller. He Yan opened his mouth and was just about to call for Yu Baizhou. However, before he had even begun to speak, Yu Baizhou’s eyes fell on his figure, and as if he had been stung, stumbled back a few steps.

The distance between the two had once again increased.

He Yan froze for half a second.

Then, while frowning gently, he pursed his lips and passed Yu Baizhou.

After He Yan left, Yu Baizhou turned around and whispered to Tu Gaoming, “Just now, I didn’t get too close to He Yan, right?”

Tu Gaoming thought about it. “Nope.”

Yu Baizhou let loose a sigh of relief. That’s good, he probably didn’t give He Yan a chance to hate him again.

Didn’t He Yan dislike being physically close to him? Something like this was easy to manage. All he had to do was to constantly keep at a distance on his own initiative.

First, brush him well remotely, then he can close in. No problem.

When school ended in the afternoon, Pan Yi was waiting at the school gates. Even though He Yan had reminded him to not wait for him many times, Pan Yi had always managed to pull him into his car before hitting the road.

He Yan’s house was not far from the school. If he was driven, it shouldn’t take long until he arrived.

Before He Yan had fully exited the car, Pan Yi saw the strawberry cream bread in his school bag. Staring until he began to drool, Pan Yi felt a bit greedy, and asked He Yan if he could eat it.

He Yan thought about the way Yu Baizhou had dodged him earlier today, and his eyes became a few degrees colder. Not caring much, he replied, “Up to you.”

Getting permission, Pan Yi consciously reached out for it. “Thank you, Yan-ge!”

Pan Yi held the bread, asking while tearing open the packaging, “This looks like it can only be bought. Did you buy it on school grounds?”

He Yan hesitated. “…No.”

Pan Yi continued, “Outside the school? Tell me the store, next time I’ll come along too.”

Pan Yi opened the packaging and took a bite towards the delicate chocolate strawberry decorations on top. Suddenly, his hand was empty, and his mouth bit nothing but air.

He Yan had taken the bread back. “Forget it, you shouldn’t eat it.”

Pan Yi stared at his empty hands, feeling wronged. “Ge?!? I was already about to put it in my mouth, how can you repent?”

He Yan didn’t reply but still got out of the car.

Thinking of something, Pan Yi’s eyes flickered as he pulled the car brakes and rolled down the windows, asking, “Ge, this couldn’t be something given to you by a boy you like, right?”

He Yan paused his steps.

After a while, he turned back to Pan Yi and threw the bread in the other’s direction. “You’re thinking too much.”

Pan Yi caught the bread, laughing.

Since Yu Baizhou had left his homework empty, he came out of the school a few minutes late. On the way back, he asked Uncle Li to stop outside the stationery store for a few minutes and went in to buy a box of blue ink.

When he passed by He Yan’s desk earlier on in the afternoon, he saw that the ink He Yan used had almost run out.

Uncle Li knew that Yu Baizhou never used a fountain pen and thought he had bought it for Yu Chen, so he kindly reminded, “Young Master, Mr Yu does not use blue ink. He only uses black.”

Yu Baizhou understood Uncle Li’s meaning and explained, “You misunderstand, this isn’t prepared for my dad, but for a friend of mine.”

Uncle Li had also come across Yu Chen and Fu Xia’s gossip, and said with a meaningful smile, “Then it seems like your friend is very important to you.”

[T/N: “您”: Uncle Li and YBZ use the formal ‘you’ to address each other]

Yu Baizhou thought about it, nodding seriously. “Very important.”

This man held the rise and fall of his family in one hand.

During the evening self-study session, before He Yan arrived, Yu Baizhou sneakily placed the bottle of ink into the other boy’s desk, then stuck a sticky note onto the gift as usual.

In the past, when Yu Baizhou delivered bread to He Yan, he was generous about his actions and didn’t hide it. This time was also the same.

There were actually two purposes for this: first, to brush up on goodwill; second, to let others know that although he and He Yan didn’t communicate with each other all that much, their relationship was not ordinary, and people should keep in mind that He Yan was not someone to be targeted if they developed an urge to bully.

To put it simply——He Yan was Yu Baizhou’s man, if you dare to harm him, you will die.

Previously, the novel’s information stated that He Yan was often bullied by others. But, ever since he began to send him bread in this timeline, he had heard no news about the other party being tormented by anyone.

So, he could say that this method worked particularly well.

Yu Baizhou actually hoped that while he cleansed himself from the amassed guilt values, he would be able to provide He Yan some help if it was within his ability.

Everyone would go through a period of time when they become truly desperate. He couldn’t just act as a spectator when He Yan falls into despair.

Even if this person would grow up to be a very powerful man, that was only in the future.

Before the switch, he didn’t necessarily have anything to do with He Yan, but the situation now was different.

He knew it wasn’t possible to be the light for He Yan, but perhaps he could be his firefly for a while, illuminating He Yan’s road just for a short period of time.

Yu Baizhou thought up to this point and couldn’t help but feel moved. He felt like he was a pretty great person!

However, at this time, He Yan’s deskmate Shi Chongjun, the Chinese subject’s class representative, stared at the side of Yu Baizhou’s face, thin hands shaking while he held onto his glasses in horror.

Finally… It was starting…

As he put He Yan’s gift in place, Yu Baizhou was completely ignorant of Shi Chongjun next to him, and while thinking about his goodwill value that would soon fly up, cheerfully returned to his seat.

That night, the school forum began to wildly spread a prophecy——

Yu-xiaocao wore a velvet glove over an iron hand*. After giving He Yan ‘benefits’, he sent him a bottle of ink. Ink? No, not at all. The time has come, Yu-xiaocao was about to strike down and destroy He Yan!

[T/N: “软硬兼施”: translates to ‘YBZ is both hard and soft’, but obviously that would sound weird. So, I just used the basic meaning, which is how he supposedly acts gentle as well as using force to torment HY. The whole thing with ‘ink’ has been covered by onefallenleaf in the comments—it’s quite insightful!]

The author has something to say:

Today’s Xiao-Yu is a butcher-knife wielding firefly. (This is a sorrowful story~)

  1. Hehe. Fu Xia and Yu Chen are a cute pair. They care si much for their son.

Eh? Why a bottle of ink could be a declaration of war? I don’t understand that kind of logic… Is it going to explode? I hope no.

    Thanks for the chapter!

  3. What kind of mental gymnastics do you have to do to get from a bottle of ink to a declaration of war? 🤨 Is it that I’m too old or is it that there’s something wrong with their heads? 🤔

  4. I wonder what He Yan would think getting a bottle of ink after all those snacks… He’ll probably have an even bigger headache.

  5. Haha, I was curious about the phrase and tried looking it up.

Turn out there was a saying in Chinese called drinking ink “喝墨水(hē mòshuǐ).” It means that students who didn’t perform well on a test would need to undergo a punishment by their teachers, namely drinking ink. Ew.

    Well, anyway I don’t know it that was true or if the classmates thought our cute mc want ml to drink ink or not, but there was another common phrase used in daily life with the similar kanji (please correct me if I’m wrong);

    Hē + guò + mòshuǐ.

喝 (Hē)” means study and learning.
“墨水 (Mòshuǐ)” represents the knowledge that someone has.

    But it can also means
    喝 + 过 + 墨水 : to be educated.

So I think giving someone ink = plan to ‘educate’ / beat ’em up

    Lol XD

    Thanks for the chapters! 🍀

  6. Huh, so based on Pan Yi’s question He Yan knows he’s gay. I thought maybe he was the type of ML who never had any feelings for anyone pre-MC.
