Husky’s Side Chapter 4

Life-Saving Days by the Husky’s Side
Backstories

Qian Duoshu had kicked Zhou Li’s thigh.

Zhou Li took a look under his beach pants and found that his thigh was already red and swollen. With one more day they will probably turn blue and purple. His back should be in a similar situation. After all, violent people have no reason at all when they go crazy and 80% of their brain during a beating session will have no idea just how heavy their hits are.

He heard Qian Duoshu yell at him from the living room to start cooking, secretly spat out a “fuck your mother”, then stood up and walked out.

At this time, Qian Duoshu had just finished changing his clothes.

He was in his forties, had a beer belly, and his head was half bald.

Because he has been stuck in a drunken stupor for nearly a year, his eyes were muddy, the whites were bloodshot, and his stern face always vaguely revealed a gloomy hostility. But as long as he smiled, even just a little, his round face made him look very kind. In the eyes of neighbours, he was a good old man.

It was probably the previous episode that sucked away all the tyranny in his body. His emotions became stable and he didn’t get angry even though Zhou Li took a long time before coming out. He turned on the TV and glanced over at his son. “Go and cook now.”

Pausing for a moment, he calmly added, “In the future, take your naps at noon. Sleeping at this time, how will you be able to sleep at night?”

It was as if nothing had happened. In the blink of an eye, he put on the “father” coat. This act was comparable to the face changes in Peking Opera.

Zhou Li tugged at the corners of his mouth and replied with an “Oh“.

Qian Duoshu asked, “Which one of your classmates does that dog belong to?”

Zhou Li searched for information and reported a name that Qian Duoshu had never heard of before. He said, “His dog was injured, but since his family recently went off to go travelling, there was no way for him to take care of his pet, and also because he dislikes the high cost of foster care he saw our house is close to the vet clinic, he’s making me raise it for a some time and so I can also take it for follow-up visits regularly.”

Qian Duoshu sneered, “It lives better than people.”

Zhou Li said, “Isn’t it like that for all pets these days?”

Qian Duoshu nodded and stopped offering his opinions, as if he was not the one who told him to throw the dog back just now.

Zhou Li coldly threw a glance at him and entered the kitchen.

Although the character profile he received in his mind did not come with any emotions, he could understand by just looking at it once.

Mother Qian passed on early and the father and son have been dependent on each other all these years.

Qian Duoshu is was a mid-tier employee at his company, barely considered a successful person. The expenses of these two men were low and Qian Duoshu was reluctant to move houses because of his memories of Mother Qian, so they only changed the car. In their relatively wealthy early years, he would always drive the original owner out and about to play.

During those days, Qian Duoshu seldom beat the original owner. This habit only began in the past few years, and had only become more frequent and serious in the past year.

But after all, there were some good times, and also many years of a loving father-son relationship. The original owner hated and feared Qian Duoshu…but he couldn’t abandon him. It could only be described as ‘loving and hating’.

The many times he was in pain, the original owner was unable to understand why his father became like this.

He suffered under his father who was beyond recognition but always had illusions about the warmth his father occasionally showed. In the end, he believed the blame was all his, with Qian Duoshu looking down on him for his unsatisfactory work. Just wait for the future and everything will be better.

He didn’t understand, but Zhou Li did.

Coincidentally, Qian Duoshu worked at a company that dealt with the internet.

From 3G to 4G, from PC to mobile, under the influence of the emerging industry chains people can only see more and more applications on mobile phones and a more convenient life, but they don’t know how many traditional Internet-centred companies were too late to transform or failed to transform.

Zhou Li’s higher social class allowed him to listen in on a lot of news and he had witnessed that bloody period of establishment with his own eyes.

Once the internet ‘giants’ experienced their failed attempts to transform, some jumped off buildings, some went bankrupt, some became homeless, and those who were unwilling to let go of the pile of worthless stocks held in their arms were even more common. One by one, the once famous websites slowly disappeared and under the eyes of the public it was as if they were never able to leave a legacy.

Qian Duoshu did not work in a large company with strong funds. The original owner had also overheard Qian Duoshu chatting with his colleagues about the multiple co-workers that were laid off. Deducing from Qian Duoshu’s irritability, it was obvious that their company will not be able to hold up for much longer.

On top of that, Qian Duoshu was not talented in the technical aspects of his work. When the company goes bankrupt, a middle-aged man in his forties will have to look for a job again. The outcome can be imagined.

Qian Duoshu was trembling in his workplace every day, depressed and violent. If he wanted to maintain his external image, he can only cast his anger on his family.

The original owner always believed things will be better in the future, but he didn’t know that it will only get worse as time goes on.

Thinking up until this point, Zhou Li felt the pain in his body become more concentrated. It seemed that this summer holiday will be a bit more difficult than he expected.

However, things were under his control now. He must double his revenge and make Qian Dushu fear him. Only then can they live in peace.

The original owner won’t make a move but he can, because this was not his real father.

This “not his real father” not only applied to his soul, but also their blood relationship.

The original owner, Qian Liye, was a cannon fodder who had a lot of scenes in the early stage, so the author made best use of him.

He pushed forward the plot a total of three times.

The first push, he beat up the male lead-turned-husky and was the reason for the female lead to meet the male lead.

The second push, he was bitten by the husky after pestering the heroine. At that time, although his mouth said he was fine, while the heroine was not paying attention he stole the husky away and beat him to death. Seriously wounded to the point of actually dying, he successfully sent Young Master Ji’s soul back into his original body.

The time in the plot was when the summer holiday was drawing to a close and the male and female leads were about to meet in their very prestigious school.

The author probably felt that it was too troublesome for the male lead to return to that little town just to retaliate against Qian Liye, so they also put this guy into the school.

But Qian Liye was a just little hooligan from an ordinary family, and don’t even mention his study abilities. How can he enter such a prestigious school?

Thus, the author performed a great operation——the Qian family had switched babies with some random wealthy family.

He, Xiangman Town’s Ying-ge, was in fact from a rich family!

There was only one line of explanation in the novel, saying that a wealthy family accidentally discovered that their child was not biologically their own and after two months of investigation, finally found Qian Liye at the end of the summer holiday.

In other words, at this point in time, a rich and powerful family was already looking for him.

Therefore, Zhou Li’s previous promise of “double repayment at the beginning of school” was not something he thoughtlessly gave out. He wanted to stay around this summer holiday because he knew that as long as he waited until the rich and powerful comes knocking at his door, he would be able to get rid of Qian Duoshu, then leave for the prestigious school to become a high school student with an excellent character and academic achievements.

Of course, Qian Liye in the original text did not become a good student.

He became even more unscrupulous after he became rich. On the very first day of school he had gone out of his way to seek out the heroine.

Song Yingshi was pestered by him for an entire summer holiday, and finally was able to rid herself of him, but who would’ve expected for her to run into him again in this setting. Her face turned pale with surprise on the spot——and this was where Qian Liye’s third push finally came in handy. Just when he wanted to forcibly kiss the heroine, Ji Shaoyan, who recovered his body, descended from the sky and saved the beauty. Reunited with the heroine, this time with his body, their campus life of slapping face and spreading sugar began.

Zhou Li only read up to here and didn’t know what was to happen afterwards.

But it didn’t matter, because he’ll be fine if he just avoids every single lightning strike. Besides, he won’t hit the husky again, so once he gains enough favour he’ll just fling a certain uncle to the heroine.

Song Yingshi had a stepmother and a pair of vicious siblings.

She stayed with her grandma this summer, but once she returns, the Shura Field* at home will definitely fatally injure a certain uncle in just minutes. With this, he’ll still be able to return to his original body, though this time it will have nothing to do with him.

[T/N: refers to pit of death in Buddism, though it casually used to describe a tragic battlefield]

Zhou Li thought about his situation while walking in circles around the kitchen and found a serious problem on his third loop.

There was information in his mind, but it wasn’t from an inherited memory.

Looking through those things was like watching a movie. It’s like watching a perfectly made recipe video but unable to immediately become a chef. He has seen the original owner cook in the information, but it was only limited to “watching”. In reality, he had no idea how to do it.

He gave up struggling through this task and went back to the living room to patch up what he said earlier. “Not enough ingredients, let’s just order takeaway ma. My classmate gave me 10 yuan every day for physical work and paid in one go. This is the first time I’ve earned money, so I’ll treat us tonight.”

Qian Duoshu was startled slightly, then smiled and nodded, taking the initiative to order his meal.

Zhou Li couldn’t be bothered to throw around more lies with this man and finished ordering his own portion before choosing the store. Happily paying the money, he was able to temporarily put off cooking their meals.

Twenty minutes later, their takeaway was delivered.

Zhou Li ignored Qian Duoshu sitting at the opposite side of the dinner table. After eating, he returned to his room with the steamed buns and ham sausages brought by the takeaway boy and looked at the small body of a certain uncle. He tore apart half of the steamed buns and mixed it with the ham, then put the food in front of the dog.

Ji Shaoyan got up and leaned over, bowing his head to eat.

He had actually been hungry for a while now and his body’s instinctive reaction was very strong, but even if he wanted to swallow up the bowl as well, he refused to gobble the food up and instead ate very restrainedly. He hated the feeling of losing control.

Seeing him chew his food slowly, Zhou Li found this guy a little pleasing to the eye and couldn’t help but rest a hand on top of the dog’s head. “You really are the most beautiful husky cub I’ve ever seen.”

Ji Shaoyan turned a deaf ear and continued to eat.

Zhou Li didn’t tease him anymore and began working on how to solve the problem of going to the toilet at night.

The little nurse said there was no need to specially prepare a litterbox for the dog and that it was fine to just grab a rag that had the smell of his poop or urine.

He didn’t know whether the young master who had turned a dog would be willing smell his own urine. But this was a person who could understand human words, so he went to find a plastic book holder and spread it out beside the cardboard box, then placed a piece of cloth over it and told the younger master to do what he needed at night on the allocated spot.

Ji Shaoyan was noncommittal and went back to his nest after eating.

Zhou Li scavenged around to find the medicinal liquor and endured the pain while he rubbed it into his legs. While kneading, he finalized a plan for revenge, then lay down and played around on his phone, finally going to bed at half past ten.

Suddenly remembering he forget to do something, he sat up and wrote “video in the phone” on a note, which was then stuck onto the head board with transparent glue.

This way, even if this was just a “day trip” for him, Qian Liye will know to watch the video first after waking up. The rest was beyond his control; if Qian Liye continues to do whatever, he can’t stop him.

Zhou Li went to sleep and found that he was still occupying this shell when he woke up the next day. He looked at a certain uncle and saw that the puppy was currently solving a physical problem on the rag. He smiled and got out of bed to rub the dog’s head. He was just about to say “really obedient” and could not help but think of Song Yingshi.

Song Yingshi was a young girl with vitality and lived a very positive life, just like him.

The difference was that she’s built with a cute model and had the intense feelings present in a young girl’s heart. She often talked to the husky and frequently praised him. Although Young Master Ji had a black heart with a white exterior*, he also had a problem with his narcissistic side, so whenever Song Yingshi praised him he always believed he benefited from it.

[T/N: literally “white cut black”, which is someone who is good and gentle externally but dark/evil on the inside]

Zhou Li thought about it a little then picked up the husky, and while trying his best to make his voice sound full of vitality, said, “Little guy, you’re so awesome!”

The moment these words came out, he shivered before anyone else.

Ji Shaoyan: “……”

Please pardon him, he has no control over this style.

Zhou Li put down the dog as if nothing happened and quickly put on an act to explain is ‘trembling’. “How strange, why did I just feel a gust of wind blowing over here, could it be that something’s unclean?”

Ji Shaoyan looked straight at him.

Huskies, this breed of dog, in addition to dismantling the house and committing crimes, they were also very suitable for making emoticons, especially ones under the package titled “looking at a dumbass”. Ji Shaoye was currently wearing this expression.

Zhou Li: “……”

He didn’t care about arguing against a dog and washed the other’s meal bowl, then heated the remaining half of the steamed buns left from last night in the microwave. He shredded the food and threw it into the bowl, then gave it to Uncle Dog. “There’s no more ham. I’ll go downstairs and buy it in a bit, so let’s make do with this meal first.”

Ji Shaoyan then took a few mouthfuls meaningfully and stopped eating when he was 70% full, returning to his nest to recharge.

One person and one dog passed the day peacefully.

In the evening, Zhou Li worriedly paced around the kitchen and finally went out to buy two bowls of instant noodles, thinking about his reasoning along the way. Let’s say he found these in the bedroom and saw they were about to expire, so he took them out to be eaten so as not to waste food.

He felt his reasoning was rather well-thought out and fair, but it’s a pity he forgot that people who had violent tendencies were not normal at all.

It’s not known just how angry Qian Duoshu became while he was at work, but when he went home and saw the dinner on the table he immediately furious, picking up the bowl and slamming it into the other’s body. “Laozi worked goddamn hard all day and you fucking give laozi this to eat!”

The instant noodles have not been soaked for too long so Zhou Li was dripping with ridiculously hot soup.

The fire in his heart exploded with a “roar” and he jumped up, picking up his own bowl and hurling it back at the other.

With the injuries on his body, he originally planned to temporarily wait until his payback.

But take a look now, fuck your mother, what the hell is a ‘temporary wait’!

Ji Shaoyan: “……”

He heard the noises and wanted to take a look, only to enter this brutal father-son game, and suddenly went silent.

Thinking about it, when he became a dog, his situation was never as bad as whatever the hell was going on now.

He watched the two bombs roll into a ball with cold eyes and turned back into the room, thinking that he must leave as soon as possible. This environment was simply not something a human can handle.

The author has something to say:

Young Master Zhou is even more tragic of a man.

The viewers shed tears and the listener grieves.
