TSIFB Chapter 2

穿成校草被迫营业 / Transmigrated into a School Idol and Forced to Do Business
Invisible genius

Suddenly called on, Yu Baizhou paused for a few seconds.

The students in class snorted.

“Why pick Yu-shao? A question so hard that our class can’t do it, how could Yu-shao have a better chance at solving it?”

[T/N: “少”/shao: is a title for a son of a rich family, the kids call YBZ ‘Young master Yu’]

“Ha, this poisonous tongue is trying to embarrass Yu-shao again.”

Cheng Jiahui knocked the teaching stick hard onto the table, and sternly spoke to the class, “Whoever is muttering about will be sent out to stand in the corridor.”

Hearing this, the class suddenly pittered into silence.

Cheng Jiahui stood in the quiet atmosphere of the class, satisfied, then lifted her teaching stick to point at Yu Baizhou. “You, come up and do the question.”

Yu Baizhou stared at the teaching stick that was pointed at him without any bit of politeness. Although he knew the one Cheng Jiahui was targeting was the original owner and not himself, he still felt quite uncomfortable.

He left his seat and walked to the podium.

Tu Gaoming was infuriated with Cheng Jiahui and gritted his teeth. Cheng Jiahui had clearly arranged for their boss to go up. As the class teacher, she definitely knew the level of knowledge their boss had, but still called on him to solve the super-level question. It was plain to see that she was using this opportunity to deliberately make trouble for their boss.

Fuck!

Yu Baizhou walked up to the blackboard, picked up a long piece of chalk, and peered up. The question was indeed considered to be at a super-level. As the other students had said, it was very complicated.

The original character was an unintelligent student, and such a difficult question would not have been able to be solved.

Yu Baizhou felt conflicted on how he should handle this, but in the end he placed the chalk back into the chalk slot.

As soon as the chalk returned to its place, Cheng Jiahui’s sharp voice came from the side. “You can’t do it?”

Yu Baizhou didn’t have time to answer when he heard Cheng Jiahui raise her voice and say, “If you can’t do it then why are you still here?”

Yu Baizhou closed his eyes and turned to walk back, but he had not taken more than a few steps when he heard Cheng Jiahui raise a shrill voice to the students in front of her. “Everyone must always pay attention to class carefully, otherwise they will just be standing in detention in front of the blackboard, just like Yu Baizhou. He is a terrible example, the very worst example!”

The teaching stick smacked against the table and made a crisp noise. Yu Baizhou had stopped walking.

The entire class did not dare to make a sound.

Cheng Jiahui glared at Yu Baizhou, who had paused on his way back to his desk. “What are you doing standing around? Hurry back and get into your seat!”

Yu Baizhou faced the front again and looked at Cheng Jiahui. “Sorry, teacher. I seem to have just remembered how to solve this.”

Cheng Jiahui was stunned into silence for a moment, then asked Yu Baizhou, “Are you sure you just remembered?”

Yu Baizhou replied, “Not sure, but it doesn’t hurt to try.”

Annoyed, Cheng Jiahui said, “The time we spend in this classroom is precious, do you think you can try just because you want to?”

Yu Baizhou felt helpless, thinking in his heart, ‘just who’s wasting whose time?’ He asked, “Then, what will I get if it turns out I know the answer?”

Cheng Jiahui glanced at her watch. “If you are so sure, then I will give you five minutes. However, if you can’t do it within five minutes and end up wasting the time of your classmates, then you have to willingly stand in the corridor as punishment. Do you agree?”

On the surface, it seemed as if Cheng Jiahui was being considerate towards the other students, but in fact, she was completely targeting Yu Baizhou.

A student piped up, “What if he can do it?”

Cheng Jiahui choked, glaring at the student that spoke up and who was now shrinking back.

Yu Baizhou faced Cheng Jiahui. “I agree. But, if I end up being able to answer this, then you must give me an apology.”

It would not just be in return for the rude manner he was treated with, but also for the pot* that was thrown on the original host.

[T/N: being ‘thrown a pot’ means to carry the blame]

“You!” Cheng Jiahui didn’t expect Yu Baizhou to make such a request, and her face alternated between blue and white for a while.

But they have already reached this point on the road, so Cheng Jiahui had no choice but to agree. This bet between the two had attracted everyone’s attention, and even the students who had previously dozed off were already wide awake.

Yu Baizhou returned to the podium but had yet to start the question.

The students behind him couldn’t help but be nervous, but for Cheng Jiahui who was standing by, her mood slowly relaxed from the initial tension. She was only temporarily stunned by Yu Baizhou’s momentum.

Even without a brain, it was common knowledge. It was common knowledge that at Yu Baizhou’s level, it was impossible to answer the question. He only remained on the stage because he was prideful and did not want to admit defeat.

It was all a false alarm.

Cheng Jiahui glanced at the time. Two minutes had already passed. She took a sip of water slowly and then asked with a joyful expression, “Yu Baizhou, there is only three minutes left. Are you sure you can do it?”

Yu Baizhou did not answer.

Cheng Jiahui clasped her hands. “I’ll give you some advice: if you can’t do it or if you don’t hurry up, don’t delay the other…”

As Cheng Jiahui spoke, she saw that Yu Baizhou had picked up the chalk and began to answer.

Cheng Jiahui frowned slightly.

In the past two minutes, Yu Baizhou had already sorted out the formula in his head.

Cheng Jiahui originally had a good attitude, but after looking at the calculation formula Yu Baizhou had written out, the expression on her face suddenly collapsed.

The students of the class were stunned.

“My god, Yu-shao can actually do it?”

“He really isn’t just messing around?”

“Even if he really is just messing around, this speed is too fast!”

Yu Baizhou’s chalk did not stop for even a moment. The handwriting was beautiful and the writing was fluent.

In front of everyone’s incredulous eyes, he swiftly wrote up the answer. At this time, there was only one minute left out of the five minute time limit.

He put down the chalk in his hand and turned his head back, facing Cheng Jiahui’s stiff expression, and raised the corner of his mouth. “Teacher, can you please check the answer?”

Cheng Jiahui stared at the correct solution on the blackboard and couldn’t help but loosen the grip she had on the teaching stick.

How was this possible? This was the super-level question she specifically found in the university entrance examination question set. With Yu Baizhou’s intelligence level, how could it be solved? Moreover, the working out of the question was actually more concise than the one provided in the question set.

Cheng Jiahui’s face turned ashen.

One of the students behind her loudly inquired, “Teacher Cheng, is the answer that Yu-shao put up correct or not?”

Cheng Jianghui was frozen for a few seconds. With a stiff, straight face, she replied, “…Yes.”

The students began to stir.

“Damn it, Yu-shao is too awesome!”

“Yu Baizhou is an invisible study tyrant ba!*”

“Yu-shao is my male god!”

“I love the domineering campus bully!”

What Cheng Jiahui didn’t know was that as a senior high graduate whose daily life  consisted of non-stop studying, Yu Baizhou had recently brushed up the question that was done just now. And, in his original world, Yu Baizhou’s university entrance examination results could be considered to be the top 1.

Cheng Jiahui clenched the teaching stick in her hand, took in a deep breath, and put on a mask again to cover up the panic on her face. However, after she did this, Yu Baizhou spoke up to remind her, “Teacher, we placed a bet and you lost. You said you would give me an apology.”

Hearing this, Cheng Jiahui’s complexion suddenly became too ugly to look at, and all the noises behind the two came to a stop.

Yu Baizhou was waiting and the entire class was watching. Cheng Jiahui had no choice but to ride the tiger*. She gripped the teaching stick in her hand, and finally could only squeeze out the apology between her teeth.

[T/N: an idiom; means how someone stubborn in in a difficult situation but has no choice but to go through with it]

During the break, Tu Gaoming came to Yu Baizhou to whine about Cheng Jiahui. Yu Baizhou nodded absentmindedly, then folded the piece of paper that he had played backgammon on during class and put it in a book as a bookmark.

“Did you guys notice how He Yan didn’t come to class this afternoon?”

“Yeah, it seemed like that.”

“What a surprise, even the study tyrant would skip class?”

“What about the study tyrant? With such a gloomy personality and always sitting in a corner, his sense of existence is so small. You see, even the teacher doesn’t call on him.”

Hearing a few people mention He Yan, Yu Baizhou pricked up his ears.

He Yan… Wasn’t that the boy who was kidnapped by the original host into an empty classroom during noon to get beaten up? That boy was in his class?

At this time, Tu Gaoming also happened to chat with him about He Yan. “Boss, He Yan did not come to class this afternoon. Do you think that it’s possible he was too scared by us this afternoon that he wouldn’t dare to attend the same class?”

Yu Baizhou recalled the look that He Yan gave him before he left the empty classroom, and felt that the boy’s character should not be as weak as what Tu Gaoming thought.

Yu Baizhou was suddenly a little curious about this person, so he knocked on the side of Tu Gaoming’s head and questioned him.

“You’re asking about He Yan? That guy has a strange temper and a very lonely personality. He’s always by himself and doesn’t like to show his face. Some people guessed that he’s insecure about his looks so he doesn’t dare to show his appearance.”

Tao Gaoming finished, and then reacted, “Wait, no, Boss… Why are you asking me about He Yan? The one who knows about him the clearest, isn’t that you?”

Yu Baizhou was disorientated, then said, “Yes, I know clearly. Just wanted to see if you were also the same.”

Tu Gaoming slapped his legs. “Well, I know this clearly: He Yan is a huge weirdo, and this is something the entire school knows too.”

Yu Baizhou said in a semi-doubt and semi-affirmative tone, “He Yan, his reputation is bad?”

Tu Gaoming only heard the affirmative tone in his ears and replied, “It is terrible. He Yan, this person, he is incredibly unpleasant to the eye. To rely on maintaining a ‘top student’ image, that guy thinks too much of himself*.”

[T/N: “仗着自己学习好拽得跟个二百五似的”: an idiom; TGM says that HY is very ‘250’ which means that HY is a person who thinks he is more than what he thinks he is.]

Yu Baizhou heard those words and was entranced.

He suddenly felt as if he saw a shadow of himself on He Yan, and couldn’t help but hold some sympathy in his heart.

After school ended in the afternoon, the live-in* students started running towards the cafeteria while the day students* began to head home.

[T/N: so there are students who live in dormitories on school grounds, and there are ones who only come during the day to attend classes and live at home]

There would be a meeting at school this evening, so the students wouldn’t have to attend self-study in the evening.

The original host was a day student in the book. Because he had a good family background, there were drivers assigned to pick him up and drop him off everyday.

After school, Yu Baizhou walked to the school gate. Since he was in a hurry, he accidentally ran into a male student halfway. The boy had black hair, handsome facial features, and his school uniform was clean and tidy. After apologizing, he left.

Behind him, the boy looked at Yu Baizhou’s retreating figure. The person next to him stepped forward, puzzled, and said, “Li-shao, what happened to Yu Baizhou today? Why does it seem as if he doesn’t know you?”

Li Bei turned his eyes to the boy at the entrance of the school who was slowly walking farther away. His eyes narrowed.

When Yu Baizhou arrived at the school gate, a car was already waiting for him.

The black Maybach looked very impressive.

Yu Baizhou got in the car.

The car drove away, leaving the school behind. The final destination was a luxurious villa comparable to a castle.

After the driver sent Yu Baizhou into the yard, he drove the car to the garage.

Because the introductory information of the novel had gotten jammed, Yu Baizhou was unfamiliar with many things, such as the luxury villa in front of him, and such as the appearance of the original owner’s parents.

He didn’t know what the parents of the original host looked like or what kinds of characters they were. Yu Baizhou only hoped that they were kind.

Thinking of seeing his elders soon, Yu Baizhou couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.

He tried to regain his composure and walked to the door, reaching for the doorbell.

Within ten seconds, the door opened.

Between the doorway stood a young man about the same height as Yu Baizhou, with fair skin and gentle brows, and was most likely in his early twenties.

Yu Baizhou stood in a daze by the door. He searched through the available information in his mind about this person, but his efforts were in vain.

Yu Baizhou thought about it. The original owner seemed to be an only child, so then this person should be the brother of the neighbour’s family or something like that…

Whatever. Just politely call him brother*.

[T/N: “哥哥”/gege/older brother: could apply to a blood-related brother or just a male friend]

Thinking this way, Yu Baizhou boldly began to call out, “Ge…”

008: “Call Dad.”

Yu Baizhou: “Dad!!!”
