Husky’s Side Chapter 6

Life-Saving Days by the Husky’s Side
A spiritual dog

Zhou Li naturally didn’t know of Young Master Ji’s evaluation of him.

If he knew, the alcohol in his mouth would have definitely been spat out——he led a group of people around town just to beat up his “dear father”. Such a cruel move, how could he be called a silly fool?

Of course, if he knew of the definition Young Master Ji gave to the term ‘silly fool’, the alcohol would not be spat out.

Ji Shaoyan has lived a difficult life since his childhood and his heart had long been blackened.

Here, the kinds of cheerful people who seemed to be missing all sorts of brain parts every day, were always silly fools. Zhou Li was, at best, a silly fool who can scratch people, which was essentially the same thing.

Zhou Li was most proud of his attitude towards life that rivalled and can even beat the brightness of the sun, but in the eyes of Young Master Ji, his head appeared to be lacking something inside——if he knew this, it was possible that he would end up abusing the dog in rebellion.

Fortunately, he didn’t know anything, and instead asked the boss for a plastic bowl to pour some water for Young Master Ji so that the guy wouldn’t choke on the flaky pancake.

After two rounds of beer, the skewers were served continuously.

The scrambled eggs and tomatoes exchanged glances and Er-ge finally spoke on behalf of the masses, “Ying-ge, what are your plans for the next few weeks?”

As if it were obvious, Zhou Li said, “Go home ah.”

Everyone was dumbstruck.

Er-ge said with difficulty, “Wait, aren’t you afraid Uncle will come to you to settle the bill?”

If he found people to help beat his father, then it was definitely likely that the moment he returned home his father will smack him into a one-way trip to the hospital.

But–but–but not only was “getting smacked by father” something that made his liver tremble just at the thought of it, his brother won’t be able to handle it at all!

Zhou Li was very calm. “It doesn’t matter. I can just hit him back, and when I hit him back, everything will settle down.”

Everyone was in awe and picked up their bottle to toast him again out of respect.

But even though they respected him, they were still too worried, especially when their Ying-ge said his father had a tendency towards violence. At any rate, if he really did beat Ying-ge, what can they do?

The Xiao Huangmao who belonged to the stingy population thought of another matter and asked, “Will he stop giving you pocket money?”

Zhou Li said, “It’s possible.”

Xiao Huangmao exclaimed with despair, “That’s despicable!”

Zhou Li smiled. “It’s okay, I can handle it.”

Everyone was already accustomed to his gloomy ruthlessness so when the sun suddenly shone, they felt a little uncomfortable.

They discovered this change when they were playing cards and had guessed that maybe it was because everything had been suppressed for too long. Or perhaps it could be because he was able get what he wanted by beating his father tonight. Or maybe, it was because he was finally beaten until he became abnormal——it’s hard to say which was worse.

Zhou Li didn’t care how they perceived him.

He wouldn’t wrong himself to play the role of Qian Liye anyway, nor could he play him in the first place. It was best for them to adapt to the current model of himself and if they couldn’t, there was his explanation of a ‘dual personality’ that he could fall back on. There was no need to panic at all.

He continued on from where they left off and said, “I’m preparing to look for part-time work once I’m done recovering.”

Ji Shaoyan’s ears immediately perked up.

If this silly fool goes off to work, then he will be the only one left in the house. This will be a good opportunity.

The little brothers were all surprised. “Work?”

Zhou Li said, “En, to make some money.”

This meal cost him 400 yuan, but reality was very heartless. The rest of the money should be enough for him to leisurely spend on whatever during this summer holiday, but since Song Yingshi had a job, he must follow and create a good relationship with her, all to pave the way for when it came to “giving away the dog”.

These little brothers didn’t know of his intentions and felt grieved after listening.

Er-ge’s eyes turned red and he dumbly said, “You don’t have to, after all, isn’t it just pocket money? It’s not a big deal if us brothers spend less, won’t it be enough for you to eat and drink?”

Zhou Li said, “Oh, then can you guys also scrape together my tuition fees?”

Er-ge was now furious. “He doesn’t even pay for tuition?”

Zhou Li said, “There’s a good chance.”

Er-ge huffed heavily and spat out several curse words.

The rest of the group were in a heavy mood. They really had no superiority when it came to confronting their parents, and if they kept their heads down with the matter around Ying-ge and his father, then their brother will continue to get beaten in the future with the possibility of his injuries worsening.

The little brother of one of the subsistence households ‘gulp gulp’ed down three or four mouthfuls of beer then put the bottle down. “Fine, I’ll follow you and get a job too.”

The others were taken aback, then slapped the table in unison. “Right, we’ll all go together. With the eight of us, there’s no way we won’t reach the tuition fees!”

“If it turns out that we can’t, then we just won’t attend. It’s not like we’ll be admitted into university anyway.”

“That’s right, let’s all kick off the start of our careers!”

Zhou Li smiled, feeling that things were going pretty smoothly.

There was a reason why he mentioned part-time jobs. He had turned to this topic because wanted to let these uneducated punks experience the cruelty of society.

He lived a well-off life but didn’t have an interest or hobby to save sentient beings, however, these people have helped him out and he appreciates their acts of kindness.

Although it was true that he will regain his status as the child of a wealthy family and repay his debts, he can only pull the kids in this group up once or twice when they fall. He can’t pull up them forever. They have to grow up by themselves. He didn’t want this “growth” to wait until they have learned enough lessons and end up realising it was too late for regrets.  They will start their second year of high school when the holiday ends and right now, it still wasn’t too late to correct them.

He barked out a laugh. “Okay, we’ll all go together.”

Happily looking at a circle of tomatoes and eggs, he added, “But first, we’d better dye our hair back.”

Ji Shaoyan keenly sensed that his laughter contained a hint of a malicious edge. Looking up at him again, he heard the entirely of this sentence and immediately guessed that this guy wanted to lead the hooligans to change.

Silly Fool seemed to enjoy doing these kind of things.

He bowed his head again after this short period of interest, thinking to himself that this guy had no creativity.

The little brothers didn’t notice this scheme and they all agreed. For Ying-ge, being wronged like this was nothing!

Xiao Huangmao was sitting next to the husky and after gnawing at his chicken wings, he put the bones in its plate, then asked, “When should we dye it?”

Zhou Li: “……”

Ji Shaoyan: “……”

Zhou Li replied with an “anytime” and silently watched a certain uncle.

Ji Shaoyan turned his head and gave Xiao Huangmao a look directly from the Husky Emoticon Package. He stretched his paws against the plate and slowly pushed it to the farthest place away from him, then laid down on the plastic stool. He actually stopped eating.

Xiao Huangmao: “……”

Your dislike is way too obvious ba!

The people around him had also just finished biting at their chicken wings and wanted to come over to give their godson a meal. Coming across this scene, they instantly began to roar wildly with laughter.

The others asked him what was going on and after listening to the quick story-time session, cackled and slapped the tables. Thinking this dog was quite interesting, two other boys wanted to take a bone to tease it, wanting to see its reaction.

Zhou Li shooed them back and fished up Uncle Dog to rest on his lap. He wiped his fingers with a tissue and tore up some more of the flaky pancakes, leaving his hand in front of the puppy to see if he still wanted eat.

Ji Shaoyan had actually almost eaten his fill but this did not stop him from taking a few more mouthfuls, so he opened his mouth to take a bite.

Xiao Huangmao looked on curiously from the side, “So dogs don’t actually like to eat bones!”

Midway through speaking, he suddenly gasped. “Crap, it can’t be poisonous ba?”

Zhou Li’s mouth twitched, but for the sake of preserving his life, he cannot give this dog an exception and say he’ll be fine, otherwise Young Master Ji will definitely sense something was off.

The little gangsters were collectively shocked and rushed over, holding their leftover bones to try out this theory, only to find that this husky really had absolutely no interest at all. They were so frightened their faces turned pale and they quickly went to find the manager.

The manager was also surprised. Fortunately, he was also raising a dog and threw a few bones over to his dog to see. When he saw his dog chewing very happily, he straightened his back immediately, bluntly telling them that their dog was faulty.

Everyone’s eyes turned back to the husky.

Ji Shaoyan simply ate a few bites of the flaky pancake before he stopped, calmly lying on a certain owner’s lap and acting as a toy, turning a blind eye to their group.

Xiao Huangmao was baffled. “So why doesn’t it like to eat bones?”

Zhou Li said, “Maybe he’s too weak right now and doesn’t have the energy to chew.”

Everyone looked at the surprisingly silent dog and accepted this reason.

Zhou Li said, “It can also be because he was injured, and is now distrustful of humans, only eating what I feed him.”

He touched the dog’s head and sighed sympathetically. “Ai, my poor little boy.”

Everyone watched with strange eyes.

Hello? Some of the injuries on its body, you were the one who kicked them in!

Ji Shaoyan was still calm, somewhat used to the ‘dumbass seizure’ that came up from time to time.

Today, Silly Fool hugged him downstairs to buy ham during the daytime and even pulled out a few grass blades when they passed by the flower bed. When they returned, he planted the grass in a bottle cap and placed the cap into the cardboard box, saying how it was meant to be a bonsai plant, to improve the air and adjust the mood. It was unknown just how much water had been poured into this guy’s skull.

Everyone chatted and laughed, only ending the fun when it was late into the night.

They all came out with the given excuse of “my classmate’s parents are away, so I’m staying with them for the night” and didn’t need to go home, and now wanted to go to an Internet cafe to play games all night, also expressing their desire to take Ying-ge along.

Zhou Li declined.

He has seen from the novel’s information that the environment of the small Internet cafe here was extremely poor, with air full of smoke. He didn’t want to go in even if it was just for half a step.

The little brothers didn’t force him but because they were still concerned, they decided to send him home together, preparing to wait downstairs until he sent a message that nothing was going on before leaving.

Zhou Li didn’t refuse their thoughtfulness this time around. He carried the dog home and found that the living room had already been cleaned, although the smell of instant noodles still lingered. It may take a few days for the smell to leave.

Qian Duoshu didn’t expect his son actually come home and ran out after hearing his movements.

Because he was in such a rush, he didn’t have time to put on clothes and only wore a pair of underwear. With one glance, you could see that his body had turned blue and purple, looking particularly lively.

Probably because he had experienced one or several rounds of anger and heartburn while his son was out, he was already back to being calm at this time and was silent for a few seconds before saying, “You came back?”

Zhou Li simply gave him an “en“, not interested in his psychological journey, and turned to return to his bedroom.

Qian Duoshu said “You, wait a bit. Let’s talk.”

Zhou Li had no objections and put the husky and baseball bat back into place before coming out.

Qian Duoshu may have been saddened by his behaviour today, his tired appearance reflecting his old age. “Tell me what you’re thinking.”

Zhou Li said, “Is it painful, when I hit you?”

Qian Duoshu exhaled deeply.

Of course it was painful. Not just the body, but also the spirit.

Zhou Li said, “I have been in pain for many years.”

He saw Qian Duoshu’s face flash with embarrassment and regret, and laughed. “But you don’t have to be too upset, because my personality has no attachments to this father-son relationship. I am fully able to throw my hands down.”

Qian Duoshu’s expression changed and he almost couldn’t sit still. “What do you mean?”

Zhou Li said, “I am this body’s second personality. I’m not that son of yours. If you really want to talk, you can talk when he comes out.”

He had thought about this a long time ago. With this father and son pair being so familiar with each other, he would definitely be caught.

So instead of confessing later, it was better to find the perfect time, such as now.

He bowed down to peer at the person in front of him and kindly said, “I was beaten by you until I became schizophrenic. Are you touched, Father?”

He stared at Qian Duoshu, clearly taking in the other’s slightly distorted face and unbearable pain. After saying a “good night”, he turned around and went back into his room, thinking that it was indeed too low of him to throw down a hand. Look at this—look at how easy it was to kill.

His body was stained by the smell of barbecue and smoke. After returning to his room and sending a message to his little brothers, he took a change of clothes and went to take a shower. Unexpectedly, when he went into the bathroom and was just about to close the door, he saw Uncle Dog squeeze in.

He was immediately shocked, just as how Qian Duoshu was back then, and closely stared at a certain uncle. If he remembered correctly, this was the first time that Young Master Ji took the initiative to make contact with him.

The “ghost raised menace”* that forcibly prodded Qian Duoshu a minute ago instantly disappeared and even his breathing was noticeably lighter. “What do you want to do?”

[T/N: there wasn’t a literal translation, but this is probably just describing ZL’s offensive personality before (and how he’s a ghost)]

Ji Shaoyan wanted to take a bath.

He could bear it, but only when it is necessary. He obviously didn’t want to bear it if it was not absolutely crucial.

He had already confirmed that this person was a silly fool. Although he knew how to scratch people, this kid won’t scratch others if others don’t provoke him first, so he wanted to seek welfare for himself.

Zhou Li and he looked at each other. Seeing him crawl over and squatting under the shower-head, he guessed, “You want to take a shower?”

Ji Shaoyan squatted and stayed still.

Zhou Li said, “Do you want to take a shower? If you don’t, go outside, I need to take one myself.”

Ji Shaoyan thought for a while and reluctantly, condescendingly, wagged his tail just a little.

Zhou Li had an epiphany.

He squatted down and looked at the other, touching his head curiously. “You really want to take a shower ah. Can you understand people or what? Such a spiritual guy.”

Ji Shaoyan calmly stood and let him touch.

Now that this silly fool understood, he should be able to take a shower tonight.

As soon as this thought passed through his head, Zhou Li picked him up and placed him at door, then he closed the door with a “click”. At the same time, the sound of his voice floated through the door, saying, “Your wounds aren’t healed yet. You can have a towel shower.”

Ji Shaoyan: “……”

The author has something to say:

Young Master Ji: Why didn’t you tell me earlier, I wagged my tail for nothing.

Stop sending me scientific explanations on schizophrenia and split personalities anymore. For details, please visit a comprehensive report. There will be a doctor who will come to explain it later, thank you.

  1. Young Master Ji, why so jaded at such a young age? Zhou Li’s sunny personality is much more attractive, as I’m sure you’ll agree in the future 😉 Ahhh, I can’t wait for it to happen!
Thank you for the chapter ❤

  2. Zhou Li is TRYING. You can see how he’s trying. It’s just, he has a aay of pulling aggro at the wrong moments. There is a difference between kindly explaining a situation and dismissing it, even if the words themselves are the same!

On that author’s note- people have to realize some books, even if fictional, have a lot of research to fill in the logic. Some books are just feel good stories where things just are, explanation unnecessary. This is the latter. Just excuse everything by saying he transmigrated into a book already lacking logic, okay? Haha! Don’t take it too seriously!

Thanks for your hard work translating!
