Husky’s Side Chapter 17

Life-Saving Days by the Husky’s Side
Story time

Young Master Ji’s memory has always been good, not to mention that this guy has only been in contact with one girl recently under difficult-to-forget circumstances, so he didn’t need to look up to know that this stranger was Song Yingshi just by listening to her voice.

Last time, Song Yingshi was disgusted with Silly Fool, and this time she was coaxed by him. Silly Fool even went so far as to actually use him to pick up this girl. How capable of him.

Xiao Wu naturally knew who Song Yingshi was and winked several times at Ying-ge for quite some time, handing over the plastic bag that contained the bowls, cleverly not inserting himself as a light bulb*.

[T/N: third wheel]

Song Yingshi happened to see his little hints and when the other boy walked away she asked, “They don’t know you’re the second personality?”

Oh, so it turns out this guy has already told her about his situation. No wonder she was so easily coaxed.

Ji Shaoyan threw a glance at Silly Fool, hearing the other person say, “En, they didn’t ask me about it either.”

Who knows, maybe their brains came up with something to explain his turnabout in their subconscious.

Zhou Li secretly guessed it may be because these idiotic teenagers were always so cheerful that led to their minds being chock-full of thoughts that made it hard for listeners to decide whether to laugh or cry. Perhaps they believed that since he was abused all year round, the venting sessions became his outlet, leading to his now stable emotions.

Song Yingshi was somewhat puzzled and turned to ask questions with a concerned tone. “What happened to its paws? I remember last time I saw it, it was already like this.”

Zhou Li said, “It’s misplaced, but the fixing bandages can be removed next Monday.”

After a slight pause, he added, “My other personality, he was the one who hit this guy.”

Song Yingshi let out an ‘ah‘. “He hit it?”

En, halfway through the beating, I appeared just in time to save him.” Zhou Li rubbed Uncle Dog’s fur. In order to pave the way for this dog, he pretended to be miserable and sighed, “My situation right now, it’s not really suitable for keeping pets.”

Song Yingshi secretly agreed but found it hard to think of a reply.

She patted the husky in her arms and noticed how it didn’t respond to her at all. If it weren’t for the movements of breathing and its body temperature, it was just like a fake dog. She suddenly became worried. “Does it have any other injuries? It looks lifeless ah. “

Zhou Li said, “He doesn’t. Maybe it’s because he was abused so badly, but he’s much quieter than other dogs. Occasionally, he acts a little bit like a vegetable, but you’ll just have to get used to it.”

Song Yingshi felt distressed just by listening to his explanation. She quickly touched the husky’s head again and asked, “Then, does it have a name?”

Zhou Li had almost broken into a sprint just to take Uncle Dog into his arm back then. Since Song Yingshi was asking, this obviously meant she didn’t hear him calling out to the husky.

Good. He let out a sigh of relief.

At any rate, this is your future husband. Can I let you know his name is Eggy? Of course not!

Thus, he replied, “No. If you want, you can think of one ba.”

Ji Shaoyan raised his head, quietly staring at the nonsense-spouting Silly Fool.

Zhou Li met his gaze and silently reacted after a second, calming stepping half a step away and staying in place, in case the young master mistakenly thought he wanted to send the dog away and let another person name him all because he was interested in a girl.

In《Husky’s Marriage》, Ji Shaoyan was a mentally deranged man.

When he turned into a dog, he didn’t bother pretending to be one. He spent most of the time observing people with cold eyes and was only able to slowly change his attitude towards the heroine after a long while. On the other hand, when he was a human, he was able to pretend; pretend to be a gentleman who treats others with humility. Those rude, messy, and angry things, they could never be associated to him. He was the Prince Charming in the minds of many.

But he only looked normal. The moment he places someone in his heart, what followed was a very grave possessiveness.

After the novel sent Granny Song to her death, the members in Song Yingshi’s family treated her even worse. Although Father Song loved his daughter, he will eventually blame her for causing trouble thanks to her vicious stepmother’s misleading.

Under normal circumstances, the male protagonist would step on rainbow clouds* and descent to support the female lead, cruelly torturing the scumbags who offended her and sweeping them out the door.

[T/N: In Journey to the West, Sun Wukong stepped on golden clouds, this is probably just an explanation for doing heroic acts]

Ji Shaoyan did support her, but for a moment before he acted, a dark thought arose in his mind, telling him to just leave her alone. Wait until she completely loses hope in her father, because he wanted to be the closest and most important person to her. For him, the best case was for her to be the only living thing left in the whole world, and only then will he be at ease.

But just as he turned this idea around in his head, he saw her weeping sadly over the loss of a loved one. In the end, his heart softened and he chose to help her. This was Ji Shaoyan’s first regression, during a time when he only held a small liking towards Song Yingshi. Whether he will come up with other ideas in the future, Zhou Li really can’t say.

With such terrifying possessiveness, Zhou Li had absolutely no desire to know what it would be like to become his love rival, so he had to make it clear that he had no interest in Song Yingshi at all, lest he is thrown in a pot just when he had gained an opportunity to live alone.

Song Yingshi didn’t notice their slowly increasing distance and mulled over some names before saying, “It’s so quiet, so we should choose a more cheerful name ba. How about Happy*?”

[T/N: 欢欢/huanhuan: happy/joyful. Not the most creative name]

That’s not as good as my Eggy!

Zhou Li thought about the original novel’s “Ha Ha*”. He didn’t have any expectations when it came to her naming skills and replied without a hint of conscience, “That sounds nice.”

[T/N: husky is 二哈/er ha, so her original name was straight up the breed of the dog]

Song Yingshi laughed and touched the husky. “Starting from today, your name is Happy.”

Ji Shaoyan continued to be a fake dog and didn’t spare her even one look.

The two chatted as they walked, slowly headed towards their neighbourhood.

Zhou Li had always been able to sweet-talk people, however, he felt that it was good to maintain the most ordinary relationship with Song Yingshi, so he didn’t dare to say whatever was on his mind. Most of the conversation topics revolved around the husky, and he also talked about the whole process of drawing cards to choose which TV channel to watch. These topics made Song Yingshi quite curious and she expressed her interest in giving them a try.

He said it just for you to try.

Ji Shaoyan closed his eyes and listened, thinking that if this fool didn’t say these things, how could he have an excuse to call you home to live in a world made for two?

Zhou Li smiled and replied, “You’ll have a chance in the future ba.”

Ji Shaoyan said in his heart, ‘See, ba? I reckon there will be a chance very soon.

If Zhou Li knew what Young Master Ji was thinking, he would’ve immediately thrown himself in the Yellow River*.

[T/N: second longest river in China]

Fortunately, he didn’t know anything. When they reached the crossroad, he took back the husky and made arrangements with Song Yingshi to go to work together the following day before parting after saying their goodbyes to each other.

Ji Shaoyan had shut himself down for the entire trip and only when he heard the key words “going to work” did he finally look at Silly Fool again.

He wondered how these two managed with meet up with each other, and it turned out to be such a coincidence. He somewhat suspected that Zhou Li knew the girl was working there and he deliberately found a way in.

During these days of getting along, although Silly Fool had fits of idiocy from time to time, he didn’t seem to have much drive towards anything. But after several incidents, he found that inside this Silly Fool’s mind contained many ideas and a strong desire to act. He felt that this set up was, most likely, not a coincidence at all.

Zhou Li was finally able to hug Uncle Dog again. He felt that is has been way too long since he last stroked his fur——even though he already stroked him several times just a while ago.

He couldn’t help but fluff up Uncle Dog’s body and began heading back towards their house. “Eggy, don’t you think her temper is much better than last time?”

So now you know to call me Eggy?

Ji Shaoyan didn’t want to pay attention to him.

Zhou Li was used to being ignored and didn’t mind at all.

He thought about how he had successfully set up a fishing line for the hero and heroine. Humming happily, he strolled through the front door.

He got off work at six and it was currently almost seven o’clock. Qian Duoshu was waiting for him to eat dinner together.

Probably because he had a full-day’s worth of rest at home, Qian Duoshu’s mood was relatively stable today. He didn’t say anything about going off to find trouble for no reason and instead asked about how he went about at work.

Zhou Li put the dog back in his bedroom and returned to sit at the dining table after washing his hands. “It was good. The boss saw I performed well and gave me a 50 yuan bonus. If I get lucky tomorrow, I might get more. In two days, I get 400 in total. Do you have something you want?”

Qian Duoshu was taken aback, then he remembered that they had agreed that if he didn’t do anything for a week, his son would buy him a gift. Tomorrow was the last day. He smiled in an instant. “Buy what you see, just don’t buy anything too expensive.”

Zhou Li hummed and picked up his chopsticks.

But what can you buy for 400 yuan?

He thought about this while eating. Logically, in this general situation, the common thing to buy were ties or the likes, but since Qian Duoshu’s company was going to shut down at any time, there won’t be any occasions for it to be useful. How heartbreaking.

He wanted to buy a few boxes of Wife’s Jingxin Oral Medication*, but he predicts that if he bought something like this home, Qian Duoshu would smash his face in.

[T/N: Medicine for women suffering from various effects during mensuration. It calms the mind and heart, nourishes the liver and kidneys]

So after deep contemplation, he decided to buy an electric toothbrush, something that could be used for a long time.

Having solved the problem that was gift picking, he continued to accompany Uncle Dog after dinner. Once he finished brushing the other’s teeth and was getting ready to clean his paws, he saw the dog squatting under the shower head. He blinked for a while before this little action made sense to him. “It’s fine for dogs to take a bath once a week. Too much and it won’t be good for your fur, understand?”

Ji Shaoyan squatted, unmoving.

He had to lie in a stranger’s house for a day and felt uncomfortable all over.

Zhou Li counted the time in his head. “How about this, I’ll give you a bath tomorrow.”

Ji Shaoyan took into consideration that if he took a shower today, he still had to go to Xiao Wu’s house tomorrow. Now persuaded, he held back his unhappy mood and took a small step towards him.

Zhou Li saw this scene and knew that this young master had agreed. He bent over to hug the dog over and carefully cleaned his fur.

However, agreeing was still only agreeing, and Zhou Li soon discovered the foul mood that Uncle Dog was in stuck in.

Although this guy usually didn’t pay that much attention to him, it was never as serious as what he was experiencing now. Today, he looked almost the same as when he first arrived.

Zhou Li felt that something big happened to him, so he quickly pulled out his phone and asked Xiao Wu what he went through during the day.

On the other side, Xiao Wu was in a daze. He replied: Nothing happened ah.

Zhou Li pilipala typed: You don’t know ah, but my family’s Eggy is too fragile. Sometimes, when he sees just a single blade of grass out of place, it’s as if the sky has fallen, and he will be upset for half the day. Tell me everything that happened today, including whether anyone teased him, whether he ate anything else, or if he went for a walk. I need to analyse everything.

Xiao Wu stared at the repeated “he” and thought Ying-ge had taken in the husky to raise as a son.

He had no choice but to summon up everything he could and concentrated on writing a two hundred word entry for《Husky’s Daily》, sending it over once he was done.

Zhou Li hurriedly ran his eyes though the report, feeling that everything really was fine. At most, he had been harassed by some bear children, but before, when his younger brothers touched his head one by one, wasn’t he also very calm?

He turned his eyes to the husky lying motionless on his bed and patiently tried to coax the other for a while but found that his efforts were still futile. He worriedly fluffed up the other’s soft fur. “Eggy, why are you unhappy?”

Ji Shaoyan stared at the little flower on the bed sheet, not paying any attention to the boy.

Maybe it was because he didn’t like the smell of Xiao Wu’s house, or maybe it because he was used as a tool to pick up girls, but in short, even he didn’t know why he was a little unhappy.

Zhou Li flopped down on his side, kneading his fur as he said, “Ai, how about I tell you a story ba!”

Ji Shaoyan was noncommittal and closed his eyes.

Zhou Li knew this little could still hear him and quickly dug through his memory, then opened with the beginning. “I will tell you a fantasy adventure story. The story is called《Pirates of the Caribbean》. Legend has it, that there was a Black Pearl on the sea, with a pitch-black body and a horrible curse that infected the entire ship’s crew. One day, a little girl named Elizabeth saw a little boy floating on the sea and fished him up. She found a gold coin hanging around his neck, engraved with the pattern of a skull…”

He recalled the plot and tried his best to accurately convey the plot’s ups and downs. “Elizabeth ran out of the cabin and saw that under the moonlight, those crew members had all turned into skeletons, but the strange thing was that they still had the ability to speak. Elizabeth was so shocked!”

What’s happened next… His focus wavered and his sight gradually blurred.

Today was his first time working this kind of summer job. He was busy all day and didn’t rest at noon. Before he could react, sleepiness quickly overwhelmed him.

The truth was, Ji Shaoyan had been listening.

At this time, he waited and waited, only to realise that there was no follow up. He couldn’t help but open his eyes. Seeing a sleeping face, there was a sudden silence.

If you want to go to sleep, just sleep, why did you have to go to sleep when we were just arriving at the climax?

En. Even more unhappy now.

  1. Hahahaha! Oh, this just keeps getting funnier and funnier! Ah, poor Eggy! Such misunderstandings make for entertaining reading, that’s for sure.

  2. So cutee! It gives me secondhand embarassment when Zhou Li talks about the “other personality” though. ( ///・-・///) But the ML and OG FMC dig it so it serves its purpose I guess.

Zhou Li didn’t know that his eggy already had a list full of grievances between them 🙈 hahaha

    Thanks for the update! 💕

  3. They both suck at naming lol.

Lmao, he just fell asleep in the middle of the plot! 😂

Ai, my mom did that too when I was a child and bothered her to tell me a story because I couldn’t sleep, she would fall asleep in the middle of it, and I would be even less sleepy because I just wanted to know what happened next lol~

I’m worried because of the yandere level, but they are sooo cute so whatever lol~

    Thanks for the chapter ~🌸
