Husky’s Side Chapter 30

Life-Saving Days by the Husky’s Side
The best Eggy in the world

Qian Duoshu had three siblings, all born from the same mother: an elder brother, an elder sister, and a younger sister.

The younger sister’s health was not too good. They collectively didn’t dare to tell her that their nephew had offended the second master, so only the elder brother and sister came over to the hospital. They never expected to run into this sort of scene.

Naturally, Zhou Lubo could not just sit back while watching his father’s reputation be destroyed, so he interjected, “You misunderstand, our families simply brought home the wrong baby back then.”

The Qian brothers and sister descended into an even stronger state of shock, gasping in unison. “——What?! “

The man who was invited to help be the middleman between Zhou Li and the second master was also surprised. This was the first time in his life he had encountered this kind of TV soap opera plot, but he knew it wasn’t any good to eavesdrop on other families’ businesses so he cleverly chose to leave by himself.

The Qian siblings could no longer pay any attention to him anymore with what they already had on their hands. They exchanged a few polite sentences then closed the door before walking back over, waiting for what came next.

Zhou Lubo introduced himself to the Qian family.

He was the eldest son of the Zhou family and his younger brother was Zhou Luwen, who should be Qian Duoshu’s biological son.

He explained what happened almost two decades back.

That year, his father was involved in a car accident in K City. K City was not far from this area, so although his wife was pregnant and almost due, he was able to rush over in time. She stayed there for half a month, going into labour early and giving birth to a younger son. At the same time, Mother Qian, who was also in K City and in the same hospital, gave birth to a child on the same day as Mother Zhou.

The Qian siblings went silent.

This was true, because Qian Duoshu’s wife was from K City. Back then, Qian Duoshu was too busy and often worked overtime, so his wife went back to her familial home to have someone that is able to take care of her in any unexpected situation. During her stay there, she gave birth to a child.

Zhou Lubo took in their expressions and continued.

Not too long ago, they accidentally discovered that Xiao-Wen was not a child of the Zhou family by blood so they began an investigation into what happened in the past, only to find that this child-swapping case was an accident, with the hospital at fault. Thus, they started their search for a certain child while holding the hospital responsible. Yesterday, Qian Liye’s photo appeared in a hot search. Xiao-Wen happened to see it flying around online and remarked that the boy looked like his uncle. Unfortunately, by the time they reached the hospital, Qian Liye had already left the site. Fortunately, his blood was still around, having seeped into some bandages, and so their family proceeded to take it for a DNA test. The report was finalised in one night, confirming that this boy was indeed their child. Thus, the family heads rushed over today.

The woman resting on the sofa was finally able to take in a few breaths during this break and she slowly awoke from her dizziness. Noticing her impolite appearance, she hurriedly sat upright and swept her eyes quickly around the room. Her eyes fell on the boy and instantly reddened.

The Qian siblings also recovered at this time.

Qian Duoshu’s mood had gone on a roller coaster ride. The veins on his temples jumped and his chest tightened, his breathing cutting off intermittently as he was trapped in a speechless state. Uncle Qian took the initiative to speak first, asking, “Then, where is the child from our family right now?”

Zhou Lubo said, “He’s currently at home, finishing off his summer holiday homework. We’ve come over today to discuss what to do next.”

Uncle Qian: “And what will that be?”

Zhou Lubo lightly said, “Take my little brother home and transfer him to a better school. The planned school has proficient teachers and will help him improve his grades. Xiao-Wen also attends the same, he can take care of him at any time. Both of them are in their second year and will enter university in two years’ time. It is better for us family members to not affect their moods too much because of this matter. The school is in the city and it will be inconvenient to travel back and forth, so our proposal is to have both boys live in my house and they can come back during the holidays. As for other arrangements, we can discuss it after their university entrance examination. Any opinions?”

The Qian siblings looked at each other.

The conditions that came out from his mouth were obviously for the sake of their children, but after a little bit of thinking, they realised what was wrong. Their family had a bit more money than others, and they wanted to raise both boys. The other child originally had feelings for the Zhou family, and if they let Liye stay in that family for two more years, he will definitely develop familial feelings for them by the time they graduate. When that time comes, what about their Qian family?

Aunt Qian immediately refused. “Impossible. Swapping them back or not, why do they have to live in your house?”

Once she said this, she looked at one of the parties involved. “Liye, what do you think?”

Zhou Li obviously wanted to go home with the richer family but he also knew what type of heart-breaking scene everyone would end up at if he voiced this opinion, so instead he said, just like how an obedient child would, “I’m just a child, I don’t understand. I will listen to what you say.”

Aunt Qian was more than a little dissatisfied. “What do you mean listen to us, do you really have no opinions of your own? Was it easy for your dad to raise you for so many years by himself? Even if there is no blood relationship, there should still be some filial piety left in you!”

Qian Duoshu’s complexion flushed at these words, a little embarrassed.

While this excuse may be useful if it were targeted at the ‘previous’ Liye, it was completely useless when used on this second personality because Zhou Li has been beaten by his own fists three times since he woke up. For Zhou Li to not have directly said he wanted to follow the other family home was already as good as it gets. But, this didn’t just apply to Zhou Li. Liye had also been beaten by his hands during all these years. If Liye woke up and found himself in this situation, he might also want to go home with his blood family.

He felt something clog up his throat and said in a dumb manner, “Jie, don’t say anything else.”

“Why can’t I say it?” Aunt Qian’s voice became louder as adrenaline built up, for fear that her brother will end up not being able to see either of the children afterwards. “How much have you done for him over the years? This time, he even offended the second master. Do you know how many connections we had to go through to find someone who was willing to help make peace? Sacrificing so much to act proper, to pay compensation, to bow down and knock on their door to apologise, all while not knowing if that man will even let him go. Just look at this good son you have raised!”

The more she spoke, the angrier she became. She glared at her nephew, hating iron for not becoming steel*. “After all these years, all we have raised is a white-eyed wolf*!”

[T/N: failing to live up to expectations]
[T/N: ungrateful person]

Zhou Li touched his nose.

The things of the past had nothing to do with him, although he technically was the cause of this entire disastrous mess. It’s just that some of the excuses he could use were really inconvenient to say in this setting so he could only make himself a silent witness.

Madam Zhou couldn’t bear to watch him suffer in silence and was unable to hold back, interjecting, “This…wasn’t this a misunderstanding? Was he not just trying to save the dog?”

Zhou Lubo also shot a look at Aunt Qian, speaking with a cold tone, “What compensation? That surnamed Lin, what does he hold over us? Is he even worthy of my Didi’s* apology? Why should my Didi have to make amends?”

[T/N: little brother]

These few sentences instantly calmed the room.

Zhou Li internally whistled at this morale booster. Sure enough, leaning against this big tree meant he can rest in the cool shade*. He silently gave this big brother a thumbs-up in his heart.

[T/N: if you have a big backing, you can rest easy]

Aunt Qian’s momentum was also knocked off to a lower level.

The Qian siblings looked at each other once again and for a few minutes, didn’t speak at all. They began to speculate these people’s statuses.

Zhou Li glanced at the time and raised his hand during this short but quiet break. “Then, uh… Can I excuse myself for a while? I have some business to attend to, I’ll come back when I’m finished.”

Everyone: “……”

The group of adults standing around in this small room all looked at him in unison.

Your life has just been flipped 180 and we are currently discussing such a serious subject, yet you’re still in the mood to work on other things!

Zhou Li gave a dry cough and explained, “My thing is a bit more important.”

Although he didn’t particularly want to, he had to take responsibility for the sins he committed.

Besides, he felt that this big brother of his looked like a ruthless character, so there must be a way to solve this (and every other) problem. In the original novel, Qian Liye held familial feelings for Qian Duoshu, but didn’t he still transfer to another school? So, this meant whether he stays here to spectate or not, it doesn’t matter in the long run.

He added, “Please discuss amongst yourselves carefully, do not quarrel. I will try my best to come back before noon, let us all have dinner together.”

[T/N: in-case you forgot, ZL acts formal in front of these people, and like, with most adults in the novel-world]

Qian Duoshu asked, “What are you leaving for?”

Zhou Li said, “Police station. Yesterday, I drove Song Yingshi’s car and ran through a red light while speeding. The car was detained by the police. I can’t let anyone’s driver’s license be revoked.”

Qian Duoshu has driven a car for many years and knew about the laws on the road. He frowned immediately. “You drove without a license. Go to the station and you’ll be fined and put in detention, yet you still want to come back by today?”

Zhou Li said, “I know, but I did it with a cause in mind and I’m still a minor. Song Yingshi’s dad will come with us today to the station. He said he’ll find someone to help us out, but as the driver I still need to show my face there.”

Truthfully, he didn’t know whether Song Yingshi’s father was actually reliable. He paused for a second, then added, “If I’m put into detention, let us eat some other day.”

Madam Zhou sent an urgent look to her eldest son.

Zhou Lubo gave the bodyguard a glance, then gestured towards the teenager, saying, “Let him drive you over. If there is anything that can’t be handled, let him take care of it.”

Naturally, Zhou Li would not refuse. After thanking them, he entered his room and changed his clothes before following the bodyguard outside. When he reached the door, he didn’t hold back anything and turned his head to ask, “Auntie, can I ask you something and learn the truth?”

Aunt Qian replied, “What?”

Zhou Li said, “Do you* truly think it is fine to not switch?”

[T/N: honourable form of you]

It was probably because the original owner was such a waste of space that, judging from the data mine in his mind, none of the elders in the Qian family liked him while the younger ones refused to play with him. Out of all of them, Aunt Qian was the worst, often scolding him for his actions. The original owner even once heard her warn her children to stay away from him.

Aunt Qian froze on the spot, choked up.

Of course she wanted to switch. How can one raising another family’s child be better than raising one’s own child? Besides, this kid Liye was heading down the wrong path. If he keeps acting however he wishes to, this kid will end up in jail one day.

Zhou Li glanced at her expression and smiled. “I was just asking casually. No need to answer.”

He opened the door and left with the bodyguard.

Madam Zhou lost sight of his figure and finally recovered from her state of despair, now able to join this conversation between their families.

She was born beautiful and generous, graceful and luxurious, and spoke softly but very kindly. The Qian brothers couldn’t bear to kick up a fuss in front of her and Aunt Qian had also lowered her volume without noticing. The atmosphere gradually moved towards harmony.

Zhou Li had already agreed to meet with Song Yingshi at a specific time. When he arrived at the split in the road, Song Yingshi was already standing there, waiting for him.

She saw a luxury car park in front of her and was even more confused when she heard Zhou Li calling her name, telling her to get in. Zhou Li opened the car door and waved at her. Song Yingshi hesitantly climbed on, looking at him with obvious questions in her eyes.

Zhou Li said, “The situation is a bit melodramatic.”

Song Yingshi: “Can’t be more melodramatic than what you’ve told me before .”

Zhou Li admitted to himself that she was right, then said, “Do you know that Zhou-er in the game?”

Song Yingshi was just about to nod her head before she realised the implications. With the same reaction of those elders who had just heard about this news, she simply stared at him. “Ah?”

Zhou Li confessed, “Today, some people came knocking at our door, claiming that my family and their family had brought home the wrong baby several years ago. The family’s surname is Zhou. I think that Zhou-er may be the person who was switched with me at birth.”

Song Yingshi stared at him, at a complete loss on what to say.

Not too long ago, she and her friends had gossiped all over this rumour, sighing that reality was really dog blooded*. She never expected for the dog blood to have been by her side all this time.

[T/N: melodramatic, angsty]

Zhou Li said, “Anyway, that’s what’s going on with me right now. People are still discussing what to do at home so let’s go to the police station first.”

Song Yingshi said “en“, silently digesting the news before suddenly remembering that this second personality was surnamed Zhou.

She thought that this coincidence was quite strange and was about to ask if there was a connection between the two when she was interrupted by the ringing of a WeChat notification. She turned on her phone, seeing that it was from a group chat.

The chat held a small group of veterinary hospital workers.

Last night in the hospital she walked into Ji Tianyang and had asked about the wellbeing of the husky. Ji Tianyang replied that they were able to rescue the dog in time and how it was still under observation and he then proceeded to pull her and Zhou Li into the group chat so they could keep watch over the situation themselves.

The doctors will send photos and short videos, including various bills, IV drip progress, regaining of consciousness, opening eyes, and so on.

They have been sharing posts since last night. Seeing that the other party was acting so calm, Song Yingshi felt that everything they went through was the product of a misunderstanding. Thinking about these things that could have been so easily resolved and yet somehow ended up at this point, she thought to herself that Zhou Li’s brain was truly hollow with how many pits that were drilled in there. She made a personal promise to never believe whatever he says from now on and until all the way into the distant future.

She clicked on the recently shared video while mentally dragging this boy in the mud. Zhou Li was too lazy to turn his own phone on and leaned towards her to peer at the screen.

The video was taken at three or four o’clock in the morning. The doctor was mindful of interrupting their rest, so he waited until now to share the update, telling them that the husky puppy had regained its energy and was now able to eat.

They shared three short videos.

Song Yingshi opened the first one and saw the husky puppy sprawled out, holding a can of wet dog food in its paws, eating happily and fluttering its little tail, evidently very happy.

Zhou Li: “……”

Song Yingshi: “……”

The video was only a few seconds long. The screen turned black soon after.

Song Yingshi silently opened the second one and saw the staff dangle a dog toy in front of its face. It seemed to still have little to no strength, just staring at the hovering toy before mustering enough energy to nudge at it with its tiny paw a moment later.

Zhou Li: “……”

Song Yingshi : “……”

Song Yingshi hands trembled as she opened the third one.

The video was taken this morning and the husky puppy was more energetic after a night’s sleep. It screamed “awoo” with its milky voice, howling incessantly like a wolf.

Zhou Li face scrunched up in pain at the sight and sound of the howls.

Eggy, his best Eggy in the world was gone for good.

Similarly, Song Yingshi was also not doing all too well.

She can obviously see this wasn’t the same husky as before!

She looked at Zhou Li, lowering her voice to a whisper, saying with an audible shake in her words, “Say… You don’t think that to get rid of us as soon as possible, they brought a fake to deal with us and that the real Eggy has been taken to the lab ba?”

Zhou Li looked back silently, struggling to find the right mindset for a few seconds before suggesting, “Perhaps the knock to the head gave him amnesia, that’s why he’s a bit livelier now.”

Song Yingshi: “……”

All day long, she had been repeatedly jumping between “is Zhou Li a living vessel for this mountain of pits or not”. Just now, she felt that she had blamed him unnecessarily and had jumped back out. Staring in disbelief, she said, “How is that possible?”

Zhou Li sighed. “What else can we do?”

Song Yingshi courage instantly crumbled.

There really wasn’t anything they could do. After all, they weren’t Eggy’s owner, so this alone was a huge disadvantage. She thought about that quiet little ball of husky and the image of the puppy being strapped onto an experimenting table forced itself into her mind. Song Yingshi immediately became distressed. “What will happen to Eggy in the future?”

Zhou Li said, “I don’t know, we’ll probably never get to see it again ba.”

Song Yingshi felt more uncomfortable the more she thought about it. Unable to bear it for any longer, she sent Ji Tianyang a message in the group, asking if they can go see the dog.

Ji Tianyang did not reply.

It’s not that he didn’t want to reply, but because he had no time to reply.

He was in the middle of a conversation with Yan Yunhui when he suddenly received a call from Er Ye, who said something about his classmate coming over to visit Lin Ye and falling down the stairs while leaving. This classmate had fainted from the fall and they didn’t know who to contact.

Ji Tianyang knew what was going on as soon as he heard this.

If this person really fell on their own, these group of men would’ve just left them in the hands of the hospital. If they were calling him now, it meant they must’ve been involved somehow and wanted him to come over to deal with the aftermath. However, this wasn’t the main point to take away. He asked, “My classmate? Which classmate of mine?”

Er Ye said, “Don’t know, the one in a wheelchair.”

Ji Tianyang instantly grew goosebumps. ” What——?”

He suddenly turned to look at Yan Yunhui sitting beside him. The latter’s expression remained unchanged, only sending him a questioning look. With a gentle tone, he asked, “What’s the matter?”

Ji Tianyang didn’t answer, rushing out and over to the hospital to deal with Er Ye.

By the time he arrived, the two injured patients have already been moved to the hospital beds. One of them, who either didn’t faint or had woken up later on, was leaning against the bed board and rubbing his forehead. The other’s feet were wrapped in gauze, his face pale and eyes closed tightly, lying motionless on the blanket.

The second master didn’t bother paying any attention to them and instead waited for Ji Tianyang outside, briefly filling in what happened.

He was 80% certain that this accident was a set up but what he didn’t understand was the intentions these two little boys had in mind. Were they trying to extort him and his group or the second young master?

Ji Tianyang didn’t spare him any comments and walked directly into the ward. After seeing just exactly who the patient was, his legs stiffened and his expression changed instantly. He ran to the bed. “Ge!”

Er Ye: “……”

Wait, who are you shouting for?

His eyelids twitched. With uncertainly laced in his voice, he asked, “Er-shao, this is?”

Ji Tianyang looked at him. “My dearest big brother.”

Er Ye’s heart suddenly “thump“ed while his mind added ‘it’s over’. He explained, “This is a misunderstanding.”

Liang Jingxiu lowered the hand that was rubbing his forehead and sneered, “Like hell this is a misunderstanding.”

Er Ye’s heart was writhing fiercely and he couldn’t come up with any definite evidence that they were the instigators. He had no choice but to pray that things won’t escalate rapidly within the next few minutes, saying, “I misspoke, it was an accident. I’ll have my brother come over to make amends. “

Liang Jingxiu ignored him and turned to Ji Tianyang.

Ji Tianyang returned the look and his complexion paled. The words in his mouth turned over several times. The first sentence he asked was, “Does Grandpa know?”

Liang Jingxiu lips lifted in something like a facsimile of a smile. “I haven’t called him yet.”

Ji Tianyang thought ‘damn it’. The one to make this phone call will have to be him.

If Grandpa found out he knew about this little accident and was present at the site, yet he was notified of Ji Shaoyan’s state by someone else, he will end up with an even more tragic punishment. He shakingly replied, “Then…then I’ll call him.”

Er Ye’s eyelids twitched even harder and hurriedly stalked over out to stop this phone call, only to hear Ji Tianyang say that this call had to be made sooner or later. The man felt his mouth dry up and shared his wish to know about the situation.

What’s the situation? This old man wants to kill you all off.

Ji Tianyang glanced at him and did not answer, resignedly inputting his grandfather’s number into the phone.

Grandpa Ji felt that he had experienced auditory hallucinations and rushed over to the hospital. Without saying a word to Er Ye, he immediately took his grandson back to the private hospital.

During this trip back, Ji Shaoyan had woken up once, weakly saying how he had a headache before fainting again. Even when he was carried onto the hospital bed, he never opened his eyes.

In addition to the ankle injury, his body was knocked around from the fall. He had quite the miserable appearance.

Grandpa Ji stood in front of the bed and stared at his grandson in silence.

This child was brought up by him so he naturally knew of the boy’s dispositions. He knew that while A-Yan looked gentle and considerate, his heart was filled with murky water. However, it was because of this murky water that made him uncertain of the child’s actions.

A-Yan was a smart boy and has been so since he was young. He was also very clear on his stance with repayments, which was: always make other people miserable, but never oneself.

He’s only ever pulled off these manipulative tricks* two or three times as a child but soon threw these methods to the back of his mind soon after, probably because he thought executing these plans were naive and uneconomical. So with the ‘accident’ of his, Grandpa Ji couldn’t find a reason for his reuse of manipulative pranks.

[T/N: 苦肉计: trick of injuring oneself to win the confidence of the enemy]

Did he find these underground bosses unpleasing to the eye? Is that why he wants to kill them?

First off, A-Yan held no grievances or grudges against them. They were not guilty of anything that was worth sticking a foot into. Second, even if he really wants to kill the other off on a whim, according to his style of execution, he will slowly plan every step and would never pull something so extreme.

Was he trying to target Xiao-Yang?

This was even more impossible. Xiao Yang, that idiot, has never been able to hold up when pitted against A-Yan. If A-Yan wanted to put him in his place, he would use another method that didn’t require injuring himself.

The only viable reason left was that A-Yan wanted to protect that boy.

However, first off, the boys had no relations to one another and even if they knew each other, A-Yan’s cold-hearted personality would never go so far for any person; second, even if A-Yan’s aim was truly on that boy, he wouldn’t have deliberately hinted towards the boy’s situation to him earlier in the morning.

Despite flipping through all the possible reasons, Grandpa Ji couldn’t think of why A-Yan would deliberately injure himself. Maybe this was truly an unintentional accident.

Despite mulling over it, he was still a little worried. Taking steps forward, he suddenly poked A-Yan’s ticklish spot. Seeing how his grandson didn’t react at all, he knew this wasn’t a pretense.

Maybe A-Yan though that Xiao Yang was too out of line this time around and wanted to help resolve this matter.

Even if it wasn’t, even if A-Yan had other ideas, the injury couldn’t have been intentional. Those group of underworld gangsters, they must’ve done this to him.

Grandpa Ji felt a surge of anger burst in his head in an instant.

After reading the files on these men’s backgrounds in the morning, he felt that these gangsters were bad news. Now, he felt that these gangsters were evil. He turned to Ji Tianyang with a calm face and reprimanded him loudly before ordering the boy to go home and reflect on himself, restricting his movements to their household only until school starts again. The moment the brat left, he became aggressive. With plans to rectify these underworld criminals, he began seeking out his connections. Daring to move his grandson, they must be tired of living this life!

Yan Yunhui wandered in late, pretending he had only received the news just now. Seeing Ji Tianyang walking out and leaving with a pathetic appearance, he turned to look at Liang Jingxiu. The questions in his heart were the same as those floating around in Grandpa Ji’s mind. He complained, “You guys clearly knew what type of people they are, why didn’t you have the foresight to bring a bodyguard?”

Liang Jingxiu blinked at him with a smile that clearly harboured malicious intentions.

Yan Yunhui eyes widened and he quickly understood what this smile meant, despite still being incredibly puzzled. “Why?”

Liang Jingxiu said, “He fell in love with that boy at first sight.”

“……” Yan Yunhui was rendered speechless for a while before calling out Ji Shaoyan’s name, wanting to hear this from his own mouth.

Liang Jingxiu said: “Don’t shout, it’s useless. He swallowed a sleeping pill for his act. He’ll probably be asleep until noon.”

Yan Yunhui: “……”

This guy was quite capable.

Liang Jingxiu handed his phone over. “Here, everything from the boy’s background check. Other than his pretty face, he’s basically useless. Although, I’m very curious how long A-Yan’s first love can last.”

A certain ‘first love’ was currently at the police station.

The car had only hit the curb and there was nothing that needed to be repaired. Although he drove through four intersections in a row, he only ran a red light once and was deducted 6 points, given a verbal lesson, then released.

The two of them had come by private car. Since the trip was faster than that by bus, they had arrived earlier than their agreed upon time.

Song Yingshi’s father appeared halfway through the paperwork process. He was looked a little weirded out when he walked in, saying that the one who was sorting them out wasn’t the one he had found through his connections. This meant someone else must’ve pulled strings for them earlier on.

Song Yingshi was confused. “Who could it be ya?”

Father Song didn’t answer and followed them out. Looking at the car that Zhou Li arrived here in, he seemed to believe it was his people who helped them out.

Zhou Li didn’t think so. He guessed it was Ji Shaoyan’s doing.

Although that young master had a white shell to hide his black interior, he was still quite considerate.

Once everything had been sorted out, Song Yingshi had her own car to drive home in. Zhou Li climbed into the Zhou family’s car and went directly to his house, parking outside the main entrance. Walking into their apartment, he saw that the two families had agreed to call out both Zhou Luwen and Father Zhou at noon to have a meal together in the city and to let everyone meet each other.

He silently praised their efficiency and followed them obediently to the restaurant. Stepping into the private room, he finally saw Zhou Luwen.

Zhou Luwen had a delicate and pretty appearance. Although his face was wearing a slightly uncomfortable expression, he could still see the self-confidence exuding from inside out. His whole person emitted a certain type of brightness, showing the product of a boy who grew up in a loving environment.

Zhou Luwen was also looking at Zhou Li and smiled at him, then turned to the group of adults who came in. He walked two steps forward, but before he could speak, he was cut off by Aunt Qian running over and pushing him into his arms. The woman howled and yelled, “My big nephew ah——!”

Zhou Luwen: “……”

The rest of the Zhou family: “……”

The author has something to say:

Zhou Li: Eggy QAQ

Ji Shaoyan: Look this way.

Man, that aunt pisses me off. If you expect your child to be more attached to another family (blood related or no) after two years, even after they’ve spent their entire life with yours, then something must be wrong with your family environment.

Ji Shaoyan’s friends are so intensely ride-or-die, it’s almost concerning. Good for him to find such well-suited friends though.

Last thought, I like to think people mistake Zhou Li and Zhou Luwen as twins when they go to school later on (you just know Zhou Li would go way-overboard with his brother-act to piss people off). They’re pretty enough to get away with it.

  1. Lol witnessing Grandpa Ji first think that Ji Shaoyan is doing this to protect Zhou Li but then switching to another conjecture is like watching a lottery wheel slow down on the jackpot field but then still pass it 😂😂😂
Also, I kinda had to laugh when I read JSY took a sleeping pill for the act. Did he know Grandpa Ji would try his tickle spot? xDD so entertaining
And I kinda miss human Eggy pwq he’s gone forever (╥﹏╥) *sniffs* xD

  2. I will give the grandpa a lot of credit for knowing how scheming JSY is! He may not have quite nailed down the motivations for this play, but he does know JSY’s nature.

Zhou Li peace-ing out while everyone around him fights over him is the funniest thing! Priorities, Zhou Li doesn’t have them. Alright, alright, to be fair, with as much trouble as Song Yingshi has been put through this story the one who is owed the most explanation and kindness is by far her! I can only imagine how she, who has been fed so much BS she knows its unrealistic but not what the truth really is, explained about the car to her father!

Thanks for your hard work translating!

  3. Zhou Li’s life is like a soap opera… you get some action then some dog blood drama. Even though he seems quite unfazed or detached from the things he’d gone through, my heart still aches quite a bit for him.

I wish the days to come would be more on friendship and romance for him. ( ◠‿◠ )

    Thanks for the update! 💕

  6. What’s up with this aunt? Why would you ever think that someone who has grown up as family would suddenly want to be handed off to a birth family they don’t know just because they’re their birth family.
Anyway…there’s a lot of car accidents in this novel haha

    Thank you for the chapter!
