TSIFB Chapter 16

穿成校草被迫营业 / Transmigrated into a School Idol and Forced to Do Business
He scared my son

Time seemed to freeze suddenly.

Facing He Yan’s questioning eyes, Yu Baizhou developed a guilty conscience. He tried to think of ways to explain why he had appeared here at this time.

As Yu Baizhou hesitated over what to say, a quiet swear word sounded from behind. His eyes widened slightly, and intuition told him that that this was the murderer who was going to harm He Rou tonight.

He suddenly turned his head back and saw a man wearing a hat, two hands slipped into his pockets. This suspicious character was the one who walked past him before.

It should be him.

To avoid future troubles, they must first catch the suspects.

Yu Baizhou frowned, but before he was able to move, his shoulders were held by a powerful hand and was pressed down. He paused slightly, turned his head, and saw He Yan’s face wearing a different emotion than usual.

——Somber and cruel.

Suddenly, Yu Baizhou’s breathing became stagnant.

“Stay here and guard.”

He Yan’s words brushed his ears, then he rushed out to follow the man.

Only after a few seconds had passed did Yu Baizhou recover.

He recalled the expression he had just seen on He Yan’s face.

…Was he awed?

Yu Baizhou chased his thoughts out of his mind and read the watch on his wrist. “Should be arriving now.”

Realising that someone was following him, the suspicious-looking man ran to the hospital’s stairwell. There were no lights on, only the faint green glow from the emergency exit signs. He tightly gripped the item his pocket, fearful of what would happen if he accidentally bumped into something and broke it.

A creaking sound came from the security door behind him. Someone had come in. Once the door shut once again, the stairwell returned to darkness. The man panicked, running downstairs at his fastest speed.

Footsteps echoed after him. If he was fast, the footsteps behind him was fast; if he was slow, the footsteps behind him was also slow.

Fear gripped his heart. As if he was worried about being overtaken by something, the man started to jump multiple stairs in one step and fled downstairs, but no matter how fast he ran, he still couldn’t shake off the footsteps following him.

Finally, there was a ray of light in front of him; just below him was the third floor’s emergency exit. As if he had found hope, he carried the item in his pocket and sped up his pace. But, just as he wrapped his around the door’s handle, his neck was suddenly strangled by someone from behind. The stranger dragged him back while he tried to scream, but his mouth was tightly covered by the person’s free hand. He was unable to make any sound.

In the end, the man’s fingers were forced to release the door handles one by one, and the only ray of bright light was once again replaced by the faint green glow.

The lack of oxygen made the man’s face violently red. As his mind’s consciousness began to gradually dissipate, a vague voice sounded from behind him, asking, “Is it fun to feel your life slipping away little by little? What can you get from killing a patient who lacks even the strength to truss a chicken*? Money? You tell me, how much money is a life worth? I will send double the amount to your wife and children.”

[TN: “手无缚鸡之力”: so weak they cannot do any physical work]

Hearing “wife and children”, the man began to desperately struggle, using both hands to squeeze at the tight grip around his throat. However, the stranger behind him was too strong. He wasn’t able to make the arm to shake by even a fraction.

His consciousness was slowly fading away.

Just as when this man thought he was probably about to suffocate to death, the stranger behind loosened his arm, and at the same time, the man’s back was kicked hard. He rolled down the several metres tall stairwell, limbs hurting like they were run over by a ploughing tractor.

He Yan stared at the motionless man lying on the ground and slowly walked down the stairs. In the dark, it was impossible to make out the expression formed from his thoughts, and there was only an icy voice saying, “How extremely fragile.”

He walked to the man and crouched down.

The gradual dissipation of consciousness combined with the pain in the body left the man no chance to resist.

“Let me think about how you should suffer…”

The man hopelessly lifted his head to look up at He Yan. His face was filled with fear as he recalled what He Yan said just now. He quickly defended, “I didn’t…didn’t kill anyone…you let me go…”

Before the man had finished speaking, his head was held up and smashed into the wall.

“Ah——”

After the man let out a short scream, his mouth was held shut by He Yan again.

He Yan’s chest rose and fell.

Didn’t kill anyone?

Who was he kidding?

He Yan could never forget the night he watched his mother be buried in his past life.

Didn’t kill anyone? Ha, what a joke.

In his last life, he had made everyone pay the price, but this one alone, the murderer who had directly killed his mother, escaped. In this life, he finally met the person, so how could he let him go?

Let him go, what a joke!

He Yan’s chest rapidly heaved up and down in anger. He reached into the man’s pocket and grabbed the syringe tightly in one hand, pulled off the transparent plastic cap on the needle, and raised the needle high above the man’s neck, locking onto the target.

Seeing the needle that was soon about to be stuck straight into his neck, the man’s squeaky voice broke through his palm. “Let me go! I beg you, let me go! I still have my wife and children!!!”

In the next second, the sharp and thin needle came to a stop only a few millimeters above the man’s neck.

The man’s tears and snot flowed and merged down his face as he continued to beg for mercy.

He Yan paused for two seconds, put the needle cover back on, slid it back into the man’s pocket, removed his gloves, and coldly said, “If I let you die too fast, it’ll be too cheap for you*.”

[T/N: “就太便宜你了”: meaning that he will lose out/gain no benefits]

The man thought he would be able to escape. However, it was not until he looked at He Yan that he understood that the punishments had only just started.

At the front of the hospital, police cars arrived one after another. The sound of the police sirens attracted a crowd of people on the street.

Pan Yi got out from his car not too far away and stared at the police cars lined up in front of the hospital. “The fuck? Who the hell reported to the police?”

He took out his phone and called He Yan. The other side didn’t answer. “Fuck!”

Uncle Li was briefing several policemen about the situation once again and the police soon arranged to block off the hospital.

After dealing with the police, Uncle Li talked on the phone with his family’s young master until his worries were lifted enough to let him just wait outside.

In the emergency stairwell, the man who was unable to fight back laid on the ground. His legs and feet were bend and twisted, his bashed head was bleeding, and a ‘beach’ formed on the floor under his cheeks.

Hearing the sirens from the outside, He Yan crouched, one hand pulling out his phone, the other hand grabbing onto the man’s clothes. “Tell me, who ordered you to harm the patient in room 1306 tonight?”

The man’s blood and tears smeared his face and his throat gave off a rusty taste. He didn’t dare to attempt a lie. “I heard them say, it…it was a wife from the Yi family.”

“Which wife from the Yi family?”

The man reported a name.

Satisfied, He Yan pressed the stop button on the recording on his phone, released the man, and rose. “When the police ask later, think over on how you explain the wounds on your body.”

The man fearfully looked at the boy who was still only in his teenage years, and while trembling, nodded with all his strength.

Yu Baizhou was staying in the ward. Because it was too quiet, he knocked on the system in his brain again and again, but he was rejected every time

When He Yan returned to the room, Yu Baizhou was beginning to nod off by the hospital bed, struggling to fight against Sandman with his own will. He walked over next to Yu Baizhou and crouched down, watching the person in front of him concentrate so hard that the brows furrowed, and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Hearing a very faint laugh, Yu Baizhou woke up alertly. The time it took from dozing off to being sober only took half a second.

When Yu Baizhou lifted his head to see the person next to him, he first relaxed for a few seconds, then immediately realized what he was doing. He hurriedly wiped the saliva from corner of his mouth and explained, “I didn’t fall asleep, I’ve always been awake, paying attention to the surroundings.”

Before Yu Baizhou had fully turned to face him, He Yan had already put away his smiling face. “En.”

Yu Baizhou recalled what had happened. “Right, did you catch that person?”

He Yan: “That person?”

Yu Baizhou was stuck for a moment and stumbled over his words. “Oh… It’s that suspicious looking man who had snuck past the door of this room. I thought he looked a little strange. Didn’t you also think he was strange and chased after him?”

He Yan: “Yes. I caught up, and he’s already taken away by the police.”

Yu Baizhou pretended to be in doubt. “Taken away by the police? For what reason would he have to be taken in by the police?”

He Yan: “He was carrying something unsafe.”

Yu Baizhou: “Oh, so it’s like that. Then, it’s very good for him to be taken away by the police.”

He Yan: “En.”

Hearing this, Yu Baizhou’s heart finally relaxed. Fortunately, the police had arrived in time.

While he was on the road, he had arranged a plan with Uncle Li. When they arrived, he would go to the hospital to stop the man while Uncle Li would drive to the nearest police station to make a report. The reason for the report was that Uncle Li had seen someone enter the hospital while carrying dangerous items. If he calculated the time right, by the time the police arrived, the man must still be inside the hospital. This way, no matter whether or not he was in time to save He Rou, the person would definitely not be able to escape the hospital.

Fortunately, the man was caught, otherwise who knew if there would be a repeat of this accident.

That night, Yu Baizhou, He Yan, and Uncle Li were all taken for witness statements. He Rou was under special care in the hospital, and the perpetrator had surprisingly cooperated to hand in the dangerous chemicals to the hospital.

When Yu Baizhou came out of the police station and laid his eyes on the perpetrator, the appearance of the man almost made him jump in a fright.

The man was sitting in a wheelchair with a face entirely wrapped with bandages. The pair of eyes that peeked out were bloodshot, his head was covered with gauze, and when he looked closely, there was still blood leaking through. This part of the injury was said to be caused from He Yan’s self-defense, but it was only considered a minor injury in comparison to the rest. The more serious wounds were caused by the man’s escape, when he had accidentally fallen down the stairs. He heard that the fall had shattered the bones in his feet. How miserable.

Yu Baizhou observed the man while he shook his head. The man must have a heart with horrible luck if the injuries caused by a fall was more serious than the ones given to him by another person.

The night was finally calm. Yu Baizhou left the police station and returned home with Uncle Li.

When He Yan came out, Pan Yi was waiting by the entrance.

After getting in the car, Pan Yi hurriedly asked, “What’s going on? How can the police suddenly appear?”

In their plan to catch the man, they never included the police.

He Yan adjusted the height of the passenger seat and rolled his neck. “Yu Baizhou reported to the police.”

Pan Yi looked dazed. “Ah?”

He Yan tiredly closed his eyes. “For him to be taken away by the police is still good. The illegal possession of toxic substances is enough for him to not walk away freely.”

“But if it’s like this…”

“Let him squat in prison. I also saved a little effort by not murdering him.”

The casually spoken statement shocked Pan Yi into choking.

Even if some events were passed over, and even if there was a chance to recover what was lost, the scars were already left on him.

Yu Baizhou arrived home, entered through the door, and immediately jumped out of fear.

Fu Xia and Yu Chen were sitting in the living room, eyes staring straight at him.

Yu Chen was the first to speak. “Where did you go at such a late hour?”

Yu Baizhou’s brain blanked out. “Ah, I couldn’t sleep so I went for a ride.”

“A ride? You have the guts to say such a lie! Who is stupid enough to go for a ride to the police station?!”

“…”

Fu Xia took out Yu Chen’s phone and placed it in front of him. “Just now, your father’s friend who works for the police called us. He said you were taken in for a witness statement. So, what is actually going on?”

Yu Baizhou couldn’t hide the truth anymore, so he said honestly, “It’s like this, I didn’t go out for a ride, I actually wandered around and arrived at the hospital…”

When he spoke up to here, Yu Chen gave him a fierce glare. He flinched and quickly shrunk over to Fu Xia’s side, explaining his actions. “It’s really true. Isn’t my classmate’s mother admitted to the hospital? I was just dropping by to visit his mother and happened to run into a bad guy. Uncle Li seemed to notice the man holding a knife or something in his hand, so he quickly went to report to the police, and then we were taken to the police station.”

Yu Baizhou finished his explanation and said, “I swear! Everything I said is true. If you don’t believe me, you can ask the uncles over at the police station, it’s all in the records!”

It was all true, as this was what Yu Baizhou had told the police.

After listening, Fu Xia anxiously asked, “That man was holding a knife? Did he hurt you?”

Yu Baizhou held up his two arms for him to see. “No. I was just scared.”

“Holding a knife” was the phrase he had Uncle Li report to the police.

And the perpetrator’s appearance after being injured had indeed scared him, scared him for roughly two seconds.

After hearing this, Yu Chen frowned, and his tone had even softened a little. He said to Yu Baizhou, “Come with me to the study.”

Yu Baizhou took a deep breath through his nose and followed Yu Chen into the study.

Yu Chen took a book from the shelves and handed it to him. “This is the family rule book your grandfather left me in the past. I have copied it entirely almost twenty times. This time, it’s your turn. Within a week, you must fully copy it at least once…otherwise, no pocket money for a month!”

Yu Baizhou stared at the Vajra Sutra* in front of him that was too thick for him to hold with one hand. “…”

[TN: not a literal copy of the sutra. The Vajra/Diamond Sutra is about wisdom and insight]

Yu Baizhou hugged the crumbling-to-ashes Vajra Sutra back to his room. He patted off the accumulated dust on the book and let out a sigh.

Powerful families have many matters to attend to. His family was indeed powerful, and he indeed had many matters to attend to.

Waiting until Yu Baizhou was fully asleep, Yu Chen went out and called his friend in the police station.

“That man you caught today, what’s his name?”

“Got it. By the way, remember to treat him well until his death.”

“En? Why?”

Yu Chen tore the cigarette from his mouth, face clearly displaying his bad mood. “Because he scared my son!”

    1. “Hmm, then He Yan’s stepmother was the one Who ordered the assassination?!”
Where did you get that idea? He doesn’t even have a stepmom, does he?

Ch 3: “The original owner was adopted by a man when he was five years old but did not have a father and mother like other people. The original had two fathers. The gentle-looking man in front of him was one of them.”

I mean, I guess he’s got a bio-dad out there somewhere who might be married to someone who isn’t his bio-mom… but I still don’t get what the connection is to the “wife from the Yi family” that ordered the assassination.

      1. Isn’t “the original owner” referring to Yu Baizhou, not He Yan? I’m assuming that He Yan’s mother was either an ex-wife or mistress of someone in the Yi family.

TL, thanks for your hard work!

  3. Both fathers are cute! (though in reality such a situation would be quite frightening for the parents) And Yu Baizhou’s punishment is hilarious – may he achive enlightenment 😉
Thank you for the chapter! ❤

    1. +1! I really hope MC’s relationship with his dads will have enough screen-time. I hope he will eventually see them as his own parents and not just the original owner’s parents.
