TSIFB Chapter 23

穿成校草被迫营业 / Transmigrated into a School Idol and Forced to Do Business
The sofa that my family’s little cutie slept on, is mine

Yu Baizhou stared at He Yan’s serious expression. “Oh, huh? First day?”

He Yan looked at Yu Baizhou, whose cheeks had become somewhat red, fully stunned. He did not know that Yu Baizhou had such low alcohol tolerance.

If this person has another drink and forgets everything, wouldn’t that mean the words he just spoke were all in vain?

He Yan laughed self-deprecatingly. He didn’t expect that even a person like himself would have a time when he grew anxious over some matter.

Sure enough, it was better for the other person to be fully sober before discussing anything else.

He took the beer back from Yu Baizhou’s hand. “Okay, you can’t drink anymore.”

As soon as Yu Baizhou’s hand loosened, the can was taken back by He Yan.

He tilted his chin up, slightly dissatisfied, and glared at He Yan.

He Yan looked at this boy’s unsuspecting and somewhat cute appearance. Resisting the urge to raise a hand to mess up the other’s hair, he took a sip of the beer. “Yu Baizhou, prepare a little more, okay?”

Yu Baizhou hugged his left arm and leaned against the balcony, feeling wronged and refusing to talk to the other.

The two stood side by side as the night wind gently blew through their jackets. After a while, Yu Baizhou asked, “What did you tell me just now?”

He Yan slid a hand into his pocket. “What ‘just now’?”

Yu Baizhou continued to hug his arm. “That thing you said about ‘first day’.”

He Yan turned to look at the person beside him. “You are drunk.”

Yu Baizhou was speechless. “Da-ge? Who told you I was drunk?? I am very sober, okay? Would a drunk person be able to talk to you so smoothly like this?”

He Yan looked at his complexion. “But your face is already red.”

Yu Baizhou ‘tch’ed. “Does having a red face automatically mean you’re drunk? You’re too funny. It’s only because I was born with thin skin. My skin will turn red when it’s exposed to the sun, it’ll turn red when it’s stimulated by alcohol, and it’ll also turn red when I’m shy.”

He Yan asked with great interest, “Shy?”

Yu Baizhou nodded.

He Yan lightly laughed aloud.

Yu Baizhou turned back to the topic. “So, what did you say just now? I didn’t hear it clearly the first time round, so can’t you say it again?”

He Yan was in a good mood. He asked with a slight quirk of the lip, “Yu Baizhou, did you really not hear it, or do you just want to hear me say it again?”

Yu Baizhou face was full of sincerity. “I really didn’t hear it.”

He Yan ignored his words. “You’re drunk. When your head is clear, I’ll tell you.”

Otherwise, even if he said it now, it would all be for naught.

Yu Baizhou worried at his lips. “Ze, you, I’m really not drunk. Just say it. This time, I’ll properly listen.”

He Yan did not want to be entangled with Yu Baizhou. He finished off the last of the beer in the can, then got up to head back indoors. “It’s getting late. I’ll call for your family to pick you up.”

As a result, he had just walked two steps when his arms were grabbed by the person behind him. Turning around, he saw the Yu Baizhou behind him wearing a horrified expression. “No, don’t call my family! I stink of alcohol, if they find out I was drinking behind their backs then I’m definitely dead!”

The reason why Yu Baizhou had gone 18 years without drinking was because his previous situation wasn’t ideal. Now, it was because he was too afraid to even try. Yu Chen* placed him under super strict supervision and even the red wine with the lowest alcohol content in his house was off-limits. If Yu Chen found out that he went drinking with a classmate without him knowing, he was absolutely finished!

[T/N: was Yu Baizhou in raws, pretty sure it was a typo]

He Yan heard his cries and paused. Then, he turned around and forced Yu Baizhou backwards step by step, continuing until Yu Baizhou’s waist bumped into the balcony before stopping. “You still know this, so it turns out that you’re really not drunk?”

Yu Baizhou clicked his tongue and proudly said, “I already told you that I’m not drunk. My alcohol tolerance is very high!”

Yu Baizhou reached out a hand to grab at the other’s shirt collar. “So, tell me about that thing you said about ‘first day’ ba.”

He Yan’s two hands were pressed against the balcony on either side of Yu Baizhou. He leaned in close. “Then I’ll say it clearly one more time. Will you remember?”

Yu Baizhou nodded seriously. “En.”

He Yan leaned in even closer to him and tilted his head, lips almost touching the other’s ears. “Today is the first day we are together. Got it?”

Hot air scratched at his ear. Yu Baizhou’s heart jumped.

He silently repeated in his heart, the first day, the first day, the first day…

Then, he nodded.

He Yan asked him with a joking tone, “You won’t wake up tomorrow and forget all about this, ba?”

Yu Baizhou was a little annoyed. “I’ve already said I’m not drunk. I’m not drunk, so how can I forget?”

The next day, Yu Baizhou jolted up from the sofa.

Fuck! I forgot!!!

He stared at the unfamiliar surroundings.

Who am I?! Where am I?! What am I doing?!

There was a sound behind him. Yu Baizhou turned around and just so happened to to see He Yan coming out of the bedroom with his upper body completely bare.

He Yan carried a jacket over his shoulder. When he found Yu Baizhou staring at him, he lifted the glass in his hand. “I’m just getting some water.”

Yu Baizhou had a head of messy bed hair. Then, it suddenly came to him that he was in He Yan’s house…’s sofa.

Wait, this person slept in the bedroom himself, but let his guest sleep on the sofa?

How rude.

Memories slowly poured into his brain. He remembered that after last night’s dinner, the two shared a can of beer, and then…and then…there was nothing.

Ah, head hurts, goddamn memory loss*.

[T/N: or something along the lines of “die, fragmented memories”]

Yu Baizhou lifted the blanket off his body and stood up from the sofa. His mouth was dry. His head was aching. There was nowhere on his body that wasn’t sore.

He Yan walked over, handing him the glass of water in his hand.

Yu Baizhou glanced at him, slightly aggrieved, then took the water. Contrary to what he thought earlier, it seemed that this person still had some conscience.

He raised his head and gulped down a few mouthfuls. The dryness in his throat was finally relieved.

He Yan looked at Yu Baizhou’s messy bedhead. As if his heart had been brushed by the curls, his mood couldn’t help but become better.

Yu Baizhou finishing drinking the water and licked his dry lips. “Right, when I drank that can of beer with you last night, it seems…”

Speaking up to here, he accidentally raised his head and saw that He Yan’s eyes had become a little scary.

He Yan slightly narrowed his brown eyes, then said in a deep voice, “It seems like you’ve forgotten?”

Yu Baizhou heart suddenly jumped and he hurriedly changed the rest of the sentence. “It seems like I’ve become more of a real man!”

He Yan: “…”

Yu Baizhou explained, “If you drink, you’re a man!”

He Yan laughed out loud. In the end, he couldn’t resist the urge and gave the other’s head a quick rub. “What do you want to eat? I’ll make it for you.”

Yu Baizhou said he wanted to eat porridge and He Yan went into the kitchen to prepare.

Yu Baizhou brought a hand up to the top of his head. He recalled the moment when He Yan had rubbed it just now and felt like his heart had puffed up a little.

After eating, Yu Baizhou didn’t intend to stay for too long, so he packed up his reviewing materials and headed home.

He didn’t get Uncle Li to come pick him up. Instead, He Yan sent him off downstairs and he went back by himself on the bus.

Back home, he found Fu Xia in the courtyard as soon as he entered the residence.

Having not seen him for an entire night, Yu Baizhou happily ran over to Fu Xia. “Dad, I’m home.”

However, halfway through his run, he heard a sombre voice behind him say, “Heh, you still know how to come back?”

Yu Baizhou paused in his steps and looked back. He saw Yu Chen, holding a stick in his hand and a face so dark it couldn’t possibly darken more.

His face stiffened. He swallowed hard.

Yu Baizhou had thought that He Yan would call his parents to inform them about the living situation for last night, as he did in the afternoon for yesterday’s dinner. It turns out that He Yan had not.

Since the morning, the phone he never checked from last night to now had more than 30 missed calls. They were all from Yu Chen.

It seemed that Yu Chen genuinely wanted to beat him now…

A few minutes later, Yu Baizhou was fleeing across the yard with Yu Chen chasing behind him with a stick.

“Dad! Save me!!”

“What are you calling your dad for. Even if you called for your grandpa it’ll still be useless!”

“Grandpa! Grandpa!”

Fu Xia sat in the yard, deaf to the sounds of the father and son pair next to him. In a good mood, he picked up his cup of coffee and took a sip, then continued to leisurely tan in the sunlight while flipping through a magazine.

Sitting in the study, Yu Baizhou was bitterly copying down the family rules. The right corner of the large desk was covered with a stack of paper, all filled with tiny characters, all written by him one by one. He had been copying the rules down since he arrived home. It was now three o’clock in the afternoon, and his hand was about to snap off.

Yu Baizhou was very thankful that Yu Chen had been called to an emergency business trip after they finished his ‘training’, otherwise Yu Chen might still be overseeing his copying of the family rules at this moment.

Yu Baizhou sighed.

It’s too hard, it’s really too hard!

Being in a powerful family is too hard!!

There was some movement by the door. When Fu Xia came in carrying snacks, Yu Baizhou shouted “Dad” with an aggrieved expression.

Fu Xia walked in, placing the snacks in his hand on the table. He looked over the writing that Yu Baizhou had copied manually and said, “I didn’t expect you to copy so earnestly.”

He originally thought that Yu Baizhou could only cope with copying down a section of the rules.

In his heart, Yu Baizhou though that if he had only roughly copied it, it was extremely likely that Yu Chen would chase and beat him again. Instead of wasting time and effort on rewriting everything, it was better to properly and thoroughly copy it once.

Fu Xia put down the family rule book in his hand, smiled, and comforted him. “It doesn’t matter. Just think about how your father had to copy this book 20 times in the past because of his naughtiness and your heart will be at ease.”

Yu Baizhou thought about it. “…No need to say anymore. It really does put me at ease.”

The father and son laughed together.

At this time, somewhere outside, Yu Chen sneezed. The assistant next to him asked if he had a cold, to which Yu Chen replied with a wave of his hand. “I’m fine, it’s just  my wife and son thinking of me.”

Yu Baizhou chatted with Fu Xia while munching on his snacks. Halfway through the conversation, Yu Baizhou mentioned something about tennis. Fu Xia suddenly became energetic, inviting Yu Baizhou out to play a quick round.

Yu Baizhou pointed at the family rules in front of him and said, “But this…”

“Is there anyone who is tired but refuses to rest? Relax for a while and you can continue later.”

Yu Baizhou really couldn’t copy anymore, so he agreed without thinking much about it at the time.

The father and son changed their clothes and headed to the tennis court behind the house together.

Fu Xia’s figure had about the same height as Yu Baizhou, both of them being around 180cm. In addition to their youthful appearance, along with the two wearing almost the same sports equipment, it was hard to tell that they were father and son at a glance. They looked more like two brothers with a good relationship .

Yu Baizhou couldn’t play tennis, but fortunately, the original owner himself also had rather weak skills, so even if he was constantly picking up the balls, Yu Baizhou was happy to do so.

The sun was not too hot today. The two people played for half an hour, enough to have a thin layer of sweat.

While they were resting, Yu Chen made a call to Fu Xia.

Fu Xia answered the call. Yu Baizhou walked to the side of the court to grab a bottle of mineral water and went back to sit next to Fu Xia, unscrewing the lid and handing the bottle over.

With a smile, Fu Xia reached out and gave his head a quick rub, then took the water and continued to talk to Yu Chen, who was on a business trip.

Fu Xia’s palm was very warm and had a familial feeling.

Yu Baizhou suddenly recalled how in the morning, He Yan had also rubbed his head like this.

Did this mean the other thought of him as family?

Not to mention, He Yan’s* mood was also very good.

[T/N: this part had too many ‘his/him’s, so I’m not really sure who it applied to and just went with HY]

“Xiao-Zhou? En, Xiao-Zhou is properly reflecting on it.”

As soon as Yu Baizhou heard this, he knew that Yu Chen was definitely asking after his progress, and he couldn’t help but pout.

While Fu Xia and Yu Chen were on the phone, Yu Baizhou obediently stood at the side to wait.

He took a sip of water and secretly snuck a glance at his dad. Looking at the smile on the corner of his dad’s mouth, he thought about how his parents had a really good relationship.

“I’ll call you again at night, be good. I’m hanging up.”

Fu Xia hung up the phone and Yu Baizhou hurriedly took his gaze back to the space in front of him, wearing an ‘I didn’t eavesdrop on your phone call just now’ expression.

Fu Xia smiled and shook his head.

Fu Xia and Yu Baizhou discussed what happened the previous night. Yu Baizhou’s recollection consisted of half-truths and half-lies.

The truth was that he went over to He Yan’s house to review. The lie was that he and He Yan had studied together late into the night, and that he had fallen asleep because he became too tired.

He didn’t mention anything about drinking, afraid of worrying Fu Xia.

“He Yan? Is that the one who went along to Yunhe Bay with us?”

Yu Baizhou nodded.

Fu Xia thought for bit. “I’m quite satisfied with what he said.”

Yu Baizhou was puzzled and felt like scratching his head. “Ah? Satisfied with what?”

Fu Xia said nothing and put the bottle of mineral water down before getting up. “Go, let’s play a few more rounds. I’ll let you pick up the balls one at a time.”

Yu Baizhou: “…”

On Monday, Yu Baizhou’s alarm clock broke and he was ten minutes late to school.

After he entered the classroom, he didn’t even have time to put down his schoolbag. He was told the exam that was meant to be held on Tuesday had been moved up to today, then the class leader stuffed the admission ticket into his hands and pushed him towards the exam room.

This exam was just a small test made specifically for students in their second year of high school, with all the questions given by the prodigies in their own grade. Although it wasn’t particularly formal, their results would be used in the consideration of class placements in their third year.

If students were required to occupy the main classroom every time they take an exam, it will affect the learning of students in normal classes, especially with the frequent examinations. Because of this, the school has a building specifically for exams. The desks are separated and fixed in position so they wouldn’t have to bother with moving the desks back and forth every time. As long as one stuck their admission ticket to the upper left corner of the table, they can immediately start the exam.

Yu Baizhou checked the distribution of the examination rooms posted in the lobby of the first floor. Tu Gaoming and Che Cong were in one of the 10 examination rooms on the second floor while his was on the fifth floor. The three walked together until the split on the second floor, then separated.

There was a crowd of people on the stairs and Yu Baizhou was squished in the middle. When he reached the third floor, his arm was held from behind. It was a boy’s hand.

He followed along with the flow of people while looking back. It was Li Bei.

Li Bei walked over to his side before releasing his arm. “After you finish the exam, meet me downstairs.”

Finished speaking, he stepped around Yu Baizhou and headed into the third floor.

Yu Baizhou nodded.

The first test in the morning was mathematics. In Yu Baizhou’s opinion, most questions in a high school test paper were relatively basic and didn’t require too much thinking.

After the test papers were handed out, he quickly scanned through all the questions on the paper and had a rough idea of the marking schedule. Then, he calculated the scores for each question and finally decided to lock in his results at 90 points, just enough for a passing mark.

According to the original owner’s academic level, if he achieved a score higher than that, it was likely that his teachers and classmates would be suspicious of him. At that time, there would be a possibility for some people who were already hostile towards to accuse him of cheating in order to frame him.

So, Yu Baizhou weighed the risk and felt that as long as there was progress, it was fine. There was no need to rush in at once. If he took it step by step, then he can avoid some unnecessary trouble.

Yu Baizhou used thirty minutes to select a few questions to complete, then continued to select a few more to randomly answer. After making sure his answers would achieve his estimated score, he began to spin his pen under his chin.

It was very strange. Ever since he came back from He Yan’s house, as long as he had even a little amount free time, he would think back to what had transpired the previous night.

He was very sure that he had really lost his memories after getting drunk that night, but why was He Yan so concerned about him forgetting what had happened while he had been drunk?

Could it be that something happened between them that night?

He couldn’t have actually managed to forget something really important ba?

After the exam, Yu Baizhou walked out of the classroom with his mind in a complete mess. He spent half a day in the classroom trying to recall, but towards what had happened that night, he really couldn’t remember anything. Even if he kept knocking at his head, his head would only respond with an empty “thonk thonk” instead of releasing the memories like a gushing river.

While following the crowd downstairs, he asked for help in his mind. “Xiao-ling*, don’t you have the ability to look through my mind? Can’t you tell me exactly what happened that night?”

[T/N: “小零”/little zero]

008: “Xiao-ling?? I refuse to accept this title! Please call me Xiao-yi*.”

[T/N: “小一”/little one. From Lilian in the comments: “Zero = slang for shou/uke. One = slang for gong/seme”]

Yu Baizhou said, “Stop spouting nonsense*! Talk to me about business, talk to me about what happened that night. Xiao-ling.”

[T/N: “别贫”/stop being poor: means “stop saying such useless/meaningless words”]

008: “…”

008: “What night are you talking about ya?”

Yu Baizhou: “Just the night before yesterday, the night I spent at He Yan’s house.”

008 thought about it: “Oh, that night ya, that night, that night…”

Yu Baizhou paused. “Wait, don’t tell me that you went for a vacation again that night.”

008: “…Not a vacation, but to repairs.”

Yu Baizhou: “…”

I give up. He encountered such an incompetent system, and now it was his pot to carry*.

[T/N: or, “and now he had to carry the blame”]

Asking for help was useless, so Yu Baizhou still had to rely on his own memories.

But even his memories were disobedient. Since they didn’t want to come out, then they didn’t come out.

Yu Baizhou slowly trudged downstairs. When he reached the second floor, his thoughts were beginning to spirit away*. As a result, when he walked down another flight of stairs, his feet accidentally slipped on a step.

[T/N: “想这事儿想得出了神”]

Yu Baizhou heart skipped a beat. He was walking along the middle of the stairway and there were people surrounding him on both his left and right sides. There was absolutely no chance for him to grab onto the handrails, so he looked on as he fell, cursing in his heart. He closed his eyes, submitting himself to his unavoidable fate.

But, a second after, the pain didn’t arrive as scheduled.

His back was stuck onto a warm chest and there was a strong arm around his waist. That arm wound around him tightly, just barely keeping him on solid ground.

The frightened Yu Baizhou’s heart leapt like crazy, and mixed with the heartbeat from the chest against his back that jumped with the same frequency as his, it was impossible to discern whose belonged to who.

Behind him came a familiar voice of a man, but this time, it wasn’t difficult to hear the slight tone of blame. “Yu Baizhou, don’t let your mind wander off while walking. Properly look at where you put your feet.”

Yu Baizhou heard the voice, froze, and looked back. He met a pair of brown eyes.

It was He Yan.

The reason why he almost fell over was because his mind was on He Yan and the important thing that he had forgotten from that night.

Because he couldn’t remember the incident, facing He Yan, he felt very panicked and guilty.

The position that the two were in attracted the attention of some people around them. Yu Baizhou was a little embarrassed. After he regained his balance, he tried to remove He Yan’s hand from his waist. However, even after grabbing at it, the hand didn’t budge.

He knew that He Yan was worried about him falling down, so he tilted his head back and whispered to He Yan, “Quickly loosen your hand, so many people are watching.”

He Yan asked, “Do you mind?”

Yu Baizhou answered, “This isn’t a matter of minding or not minding, the commotion we’re causing will negatively affect other students*.”

[T/N: I think he’s talking about blocking the students]

With that said, he made another attempt to remove He Yan’s hand around his waist again. This time, it was easily taken away.

Yu Baizhou let out a sigh of relief.

He and He Yan were walking down the stairs together when He Yan suddenly asked him, “What were you thinking about just now? I’ve been following you all the way, did you notice?”

“Oh, it’s nothing important… Wait…” Yu Baizhou suddenly paused. “You’ve been following me all the way?”

“From when you walked out of 506.”

506 was Yu Baizhou’s examination room number.

“How?”

“We’re both in the same examination room, did you not notice me?” He Yan watched him and said, “Or could it be that my sense of existence in your eyes has been lowered to such a point that I’ve become imperceptible?”

Yu Baizhou: “!!!”

Crap, he really didn’t notice!

But he can guarantee, it was definitely not because He Yan had a low sense of existence.

It’s over. Not only did he feel guilty from not being able to remember what happened that night, now he was more afraid to even see He Yan.

The two walked together to the first floor. He Yan looked at him. “Let’s go to the cafeteria?”

Yu Baizhou became stiff in a split second, not daring to lift his head. “That, you go first. Li Bei and I planned a meeting before, he’s waiting for me downstairs.”

He Yan frowned without knowing. “Li Bei? When did you two plan to meet?”

“Before the exam, he asked for me to wait for him downstairs…” As he spoke, Yu Baizhou’s voice became smaller and smaller.

He Yan: “…”

He Yan suppressed the dissatisfaction in his heart. “Then, I’ll go first.”

Yu Baizhou nodded and watched He Yan leave.

It was not until He Yan’s back had disappeared from the line of sight did he then loosen his breathing.

He always felt that staying by He Yan’s side made it too easy to expose himself. No, he had to quickly figure out a solution.

Yu Baizhou walked out of the exam building and found Li Bei waiting for him beside the flower bed some distance away.

He had just made his way over when Li Bei asked him, “Where did you head off to the night before yesterday’s? Why didn’t you reply when I asked you on WeChat?”

The night before yesterday was the night he was drunk.

Yu Baizhou didn’t hide anything. He filled in Li Bei about everything that had occurred, including that parts where he was drunk at He Yan’s place and how he had stayed overnight.

Although Li Bei was somewhat cruel to others, he was generally very tolerant when it came to the original owner. If just going by their brotherly relationship, he was very qualified.

Besides, at this moment, other than Li Bei, he really had no better person to discuss this with or ask questions about.

After Li Bei listened up to the part where he had spent the night at He Yan’s place, his mood became a little more complicated. “Before, didn’t you hate to even lay your eyes on He Yan? Why are you suddenly so good to him now?”

Yu Baizhou used the same excuse he had given Tu Gaoming, telling Li Bei how he wanted to start studying well and hard, then added something new. “Aren’t we about to enter our third year? I was thinking that it was about time to properly study. Since He Yan’s academic performance is the best, and since mine is poor, why don’t I just follow along with him and ask him to give me some make-up lessons? Isn’t this way good?”

Because there was a ‘make-up lesson’ in the middle for an excuse, later on, when he is peacefully getting along with He Yan, Li Bei probably wouldn’t feel strange about it for much longer.

Li Bei was speechless. After a while, he finally said, “Your alcohol tolerance means you get drunk just by touching wine. Next time, don’t mess around in front of other people.”

In fact, Yu Baizhou wasn’t really messing around at that time. He only thought about trying the taste of the beer. As a result, he accidentally forgot about the constitution of the original owner before drinking.

The original owner’s alcohol tolerance was known to Li Bei because the original had been drunk in front of Li Bei before. It was only because Li Bei knew that Yu Baizhou dared to tell the truth to him.

Thinking up to here, Yu Baizhou leaned over and embraced Li Bei’s shoulders, then entered the following topic. “Say, didn’t we get drunk together before? That, do you still remember what I did after I got drunk last time?”

Yu Baizhou was trying to find some clues using his memories of his last drunk experience.

Hearing this, Li Bei paused, then withdrew his gaze from Yu Baizhou. “…I was also drunk. Don’t remember.”

Yu Baizhou narrowed his eyes at him. “Don’t lie to me.”

Li Bei took Yu Baizhou’s hand off his shoulder. “I’m not lying to you.”

Yu Baizhou withdrew his hand.

Fine, no clue can be found*. No need to walk down this road any longer.

[T/N: “线索断了”: ‘the clue has snapped’]

When evening arrived, a guest was invited to Pan Yi’s house. Pan Yi was too lazy to kill time with his dad, so he ran over to He Yan’s.

He Yan watched Pan Yi, who was currently hugging a bag of potato chips and squatting down on the sofa with the appearance of someone who had freely claimed the house as his own. He sternly warned, “Pan Yi, see if you dare to dirty my house again.”

Pan Yi stared at the TV, leisurely replying, “Aye, it’s all fine. When the time comes I’ll pay for a part-time maid*. It’ll all be clean within a few minutes.”

[T/N: “钟点工”: an hourly worker]

As he spoke, the chips in his hands were thrown around and shattered on the ground.

He Yan pursed his lips and gave a pointed look.

Pan Yi hurriedly swept up the potato chip crumbs from the ground and threw them into the trash. “I understand. I will be careful.”

He Yan didn’t reply and went off to do his own thing.

Pan Yi suddenly realised that the interior space of He Yan’s house was a little small and that most of the furniture in it were somewhat old, so he said, “Yan-ge, your living space is really too small and the outside environment is not all that good. Why don’t I help you find a new place? The day before yesterday, I found one that was pretty promising. It’s by the west side, very close to the hospital, and the environment was also comfortable. If you lived there, it’ll also be more convenient for you to take care of Auntie.”

He Yan asked him, “Where will you get the money to buy the place?”

Pan Yi replied, “Don’t underestimate me. At my age, I already have a little deposit, and in addition to the 250,000 you transferred to me before, I listened to your advice and bought Aowei’s shares. Now, Aowei’s stock price has tripled. I’ve already made a profit, okay!”

Speaking up to here, Pan Yi leaned forward. “Right, Yan-ge, do you have anything else to introduce to me? I’ll ask my dad to buy some more.”

He Yan glanced at him. “Don’t always think of making quick money through cheating, so as not to develop inertia* later.”

[T/N: to develop a negative work habit]

Pan Yi said, “Doesn’t the saying go, ‘knowing how to cheat is also a type of asset’.”

He Yan shook his head.

Pan Yi looked at He Yan. Although he didn’t know why, he had felt that He Yan’s aura was not right today and that his mood didn’t seem well.

So after thinking about it, he went over and asked, “Ge, who made you angry?”

He Yan’s hand paused for a moment, and he replied with a mellowed tone, “No one.”

Pan Yi was unwilling to give up continued to ask, “Yi Tian? Or was it Yu Baizhou?”

Right now, Pan Yi could only think of these two.

When he heard Yu Baizhou’s name, He Yan very obviously froze for a second. Pan Yi grasped onto the detail. “Yu Baizhou?? That person came to find trouble with you again??”

Pan Yi said, irritated, “Damn, I knew from the very beginning that he approached you with ulterior motives*. Sure enough, see how that turned out!”

[T/N: with an unkind heart]

He Yan closed his laptop and took off his glasses. “You’re thinking too much.”

Pan Yi curiously asked, “Why’s that?”

He Yan: “…”

He Yan hesitated for a bit, then asked, “Pan Yi, have you ever met someone who could still speak normally even after getting drunk?”

Pan Yi looked puzzled. “What?”

He Yan recalled, “Talks very normally, doesn’t stutter nor stop.”

Pan Yi thought about for a bit. “No ba, who wouldn’t talk nonsense when drunk ah? The type of person you’re describing is kind of strange, or, at least I haven’t come across someone like that.”

He Yan brought his hands together and over his lips*, then began to wonder.

[T/N: hard to describe, but I’m imagining it’s kinda like ‘an anime CEO thinking about how to defeat the protagonist’]

Pan Yi stayed for a while until he became sleepy. He notified He Yan and went to get a blanket from the bedroom.

He Yan looked at the sofa opposite him and suddenly remembered Yu Baizhou’s appearance that night, lying on the sofa, too drunk to even walk. Some part in his heart couldn’t help but soften. But immediately after, he recalled how Yu Baizhou had avoided his eyes earlier that day. His heart immediately became mixed with emotions*.

[T/N: “五味杂陈”/five mixed flavours: complex/mixed feelings, such as sweetness, sourness, bitterness, spicyness, and saltiness]

He Yan helplessly sneered at himself inwardly. He never expected that there would be a day where he would be hooked in by a child in his teens.

Pan Yi came out with a blanket, humming while he spread the it out on the sofa. Just as he finished laying it out and was about to fall asleep on it, he heard He Yan behind him say, “Go sleep inside.”

Pan Yi thought it was too strange. “??? Are you teasing me??”

Although he frequently stayed overnight at He Yan’s house, He Yan had never let him touch the bed.

He Yan looked at him. “I’ll give you five seconds. Five, four…”

He Yan only counted down to three before Pan Yi was gone.

He Yan sat for a while before getting up to switch off the living room lights. He fell asleep on the sofa.

Yu Baizhou was lying in bed, rolling around and unable to sleep. He thought about something, then took out his phone and typed in the search box——【How to remember what happened after getting drunk?】

He was originally just going to give online searching a try to hold onto his mentality, but he didn’t expect to actually come across a forum purely dedicated to this topic. In the forum, there was a post that talked about a method that could help restore memories during that time, and some people who tried it really succeeded!

Although Yu Baizhou had always believed in science, he’d already been through the mysterious experience of transmigration, so…he thought he could still give it a try.

There were two steps to that method. The first step is to write down what your heart wishes to know on a card, the more detailed the better; the second step is to go back to the place of the incident, put the card underneath the pillow, then sleep again.

So he sat at his desk, using a pen to write down what he wished to know on a sticky note, then in his pajamas, carried a blanket to the sofa in the living room.

He couldn’t go back to the original place, so he had to find somewhere that would do the same thing. The sofa at home was still a sofa, so it should be similar enough ba.

He tucked the sticky note underneath the pillow, then laid down on the sofa. Finally, he prayed “a sincere heart, a sincere heart, a sincere heart…”, and fell asleep.

When Yu Chen came back in the middle of the night from his business trip, as soon as he entered through the door, he was met with the sight of his son deep asleep while sprawled* across the sofa, pillow and quilt both fallen onto the ground.

[T/N: “四仰八叉”: entire body facing upwards, arms and legs freely thrown about]

Seeing his son, Yu Chen’s serious expression that was displayed all day for the public finally softened. He slipped off his jacket and put it to the side*, then walked in to pick up the blanket, tucking it around his son. When he was about to retrieve the pillow, he suddenly noticed the sticky note that was beside it.

[T/N: “他将身上还带着冷气的外套脱到一旁”]

He picked up the sticky note. After seeing the characters written on the paper, the expression on his face gradually hardened from its initial softness.

【Dear Dream God, I wish to recall my forgotten memories after I became drunk at He Yan’s place on Saturday night, and more specifically, what happened between us? Please be detailed, the more detailed the better, thank you very much!!】

The author has something to say:

Xiao-Yu: “I hope that the world is still peaceful when I wake up.”

  1. Somehow this is way funnier than if YBZ had just misinterpreted the confession! Our sweet YBZ is kind of dumb, but I think we can agree that it makes him more lovable! I wouldn’t expect that to save his skin from his strict father though… that author’s note about killed me!

Thanks for your hard work translating!

  3. Yu Baizhou seems to be frightfully unlucky in small things, but we all know he’s hit the jackpot when it comes to relationships 😉
